Don't know. I think the stock NiMH batteries (9 cells) charge up to about 10.5-11.0 volts. The 9.6V might be a bit anemic. What is the capacity? Is the size/shape OK?

It seem like about 2 mins of flight. I just ordered a thunder power 1320 lipo and ready to have some fun I'll still use the stock pack. 2 mins is better than nothing.

Okay,I think it is a 650mAh or higher. But its much larger than the stock battery. It can't fit in the battery tray,so i was thinking that if it works,I would strap it under the frame. Its not all that heavy. Also I know that it takes 4 hours to charge.

I've had the axe cp for a bit now. Have two 1250 lipos the 240 gyro and 55's for servos. Lipos are a must, but you can definitely get a less expensive hh gyro. Also you run into an issue with the tail motor cutting off at low voltage since the recommended esc has a higher voltage cut than the main esc. If you fly too long you will lose the tail an spin out of control. Not an issue with lipos and timing your self, but if you stay with stock batteries and use gyro you are going to crash or fly for only 3 minutes. I did buy the 240 gyro in the expectation of using it on something else later, perhaps an mx450, trex , or a scale 30 or 50 nitro heli.

good luck

Yes. I was using the stock battery.I started it up flew once, pretty good ,charged battery, flew a second time ,but, during then I noticed that the tail wont turn to the left.Tried to trim it then the battery ran low,so I said forget it for now. That evening,Icharged the battery ,hooked it up tried to lift off the floor, but the tail kept going to the right for some reason.Tried the trims on the gyro, didnt work. Turned it off unstrapped the gyro and reciever I looked at the gyro and noticied that some wires were loose. Those were the wires that connect to the reciever.I just touched it and the soldiering broke.I said OK I'll leave it till tommorow. The next day after school, I went into the garage and got back to work. First thing I did was to unpug all the servos. Hooked up the battery, the gyro didn't even come on.I said ok.I soldered the wires back on to the gyro and plugged it into the reciever, and nothing.Next thing you know I hear BAM!!, and see a red flash. I immediatly disconnected the battery that very second. Well, what do you know, the reciever fried. I checked all the wires and soldiering along with the battery I didn't see anything wrong.it was all fine.no positive was touching negative. very dissapointed
not sure what to do now

I realize the best thing for the stock gyro are Lipos. With the TP1320 the tail sticks much better. Just when the batteries are 1/2 gone the tail is weakend requireing some correction and maybe retriming. If the tail is belted i'm sure I could get more flight time but then again, the tail issure is like a battery indicator for the Lipos

Axe CP is still a fun little heli. I prefer my hummingbird for indoor warehouse and etc though.

Do they have a tail belt drive upgrade for this heli? And what site has the upgrades on it?

the only thing is I dont have one.I just want to make sure that the 4 in 1 would work on the axe battery.just probably have to solder a wire or two and there.AND another thing, I want to make sure how to set it up right:thanks for your help.
They do make a belt conversion for the blade cp but I'm not so sure if it will work on the axe.heres the link

I've seen that belt conversion for the blade before. If I hadn't gotten such a good deal on my axe cp, I would probably buy the blade so I could use the belt conversion. I'll have to check into it to see if it works. Since I don't know much about electrics, I am not sure if the 4 in 1 would work, but I personally don't see why not.

I believe rc heli mag for the last month has a write up on the axe cp. You may want to check it out. It wasn't a bad review. Post some pics of yours and if you find any hop ups for it, post the links to them. I would prefer to get away from a motor driven tail or at least get away from a gear driven tail. I'll check out the belt conversion and email them and see if it works for the axe. And definitely go with a lipo and check all the ball links and make sure they aren't too tight.

A belt drive sure heals the burnt tail motor blues ,the kit won't work on the Axe CP ,but someone in Austrailia has his hands on an Axe and is working on a belt drive kit for it. The website is freestyle-hobby. I hope to get an e-mail soon that they have the kit available.
