e-MS Composit Hornet > Hornet II tail problems

Getting this tail to run smoothly and as it should is quite the ordeal. I am using the Micro Heli open tail gear box on my Hornet II. Bought an extended shaft and MS composit tail blade holders. Kepth the standard tail pitch slider, because the aftermarket slider from Micro Heli (with the blue holders broke. Even that one did not run smooth. The problem is that when the tail pitch slider slides on the shaftwhen being moved by the arm - it binds because it is being canted ever so slightly . I had the same problem with the aftermarked lever. I changed shafts and still had the same problem. Needless to say, it is getting a little frustrating.

Has anyone had any similar experiences?

Can someone suggest a better aftermarked tail? - one that works.

Attached are some pictures - the lever has purposely been taken of the ball slider.

Hi, to be honest I don't see a need for any tail upgrades (cause I'm short of cash and very tight ) and use stock tail setups for 2 X-3Ds and the MS Ecureuil.
EDIT: sorry you said H2, not X-3D, so yes upgrade the tail

Recently worked on a friends X-3D with almost the same tail as yours... What I did notice was that I had to slightly enlarge the plastic yoke arm holes (E229) to accommodate the metal blade grips smoothly, bent the yoke very square and added a smudge of Vaseline to the interface between the yoke and grips, plus a little on the tail output shaft to ease the run of the brass slider. Then reduced slop in the servo and 'L' shape linkage. Best results when total freed up without slop.
Yes the brass slider tube does rock a little on the shaft, I even tried careful squashing in the past to reduce slop but the effect is minimal on tail performance. I have a stock X-3D with tones of slop (relatively to the others) and the tail still performs very well and stable in hover and mild acro.

If you still have a wag the check my tips page here and check the link on vibes.

It works great for me...

Hey.. i too have the microheli tail on an X3d...
I used the stock slider for a while without any problems.. (a little slop) but worked fine..

The reason i used the stock was because the holes on the plastic part that connect to the blade holder pins was too small on the microheli slider.. i later drilled out the microheli plastic horn and put it on, and it works great?

Just so you know, the Microheli tail and slider work great.. on the X3d.. same size tube as the H2 i believe... at least the OD and ID.. not sure if the length is different..

I use bearing oil on all the moving parts.. and it is silky smooth...

so, it can be done..

Hey.. a tip.. if you crush that orange spacer, use the inside of a bic pen.. fits great!

is it me, or is the little plastic piece with the ears that connects the pitch slider to the tail grips mounted backwards? I thought the flange on the plastic piece was supposed to go towards the bearing on the pitch slider.

It's been a long time since i've looked at hornets so i could be wrong.

All,

Thanks for the responses. I will correctly attach the pitch slider. Hoping that this will improve tail performance.
