My guess is that he found it not as easy to arrange as we may have thought.

Well today at the field kinda blew (literally, haha). Met Tommy and Shawn out there. Once the sun went in, it got really cold. The rear bearing went out on my hyper. I tore it apart, cleaned it up, replaced the bearing and reinstalled. Ready for a test flight.

Anybody see the wx report for Sunday, it aint looking to good

" Did you hear, some guy pulled a knife on Mr. Hand"... what movie ?

I have a delivery to make on Saturday where I'll be crossing the Tappanzee Bridge in NY. On my way back I 'm dropping by the RCRCC field to fly for the day. Those guys have a huge field! I'll take pictures

How far are you willing to travel? If the weather is good I plan on flying up near Sparta, NJ tomorrow.

I'm heading up to take flying lessons from 4 year old Jason at RCRCC I'm going to let him test fly the stratus and see if he has any tips on making it better!

Maybe not. But at least I'll get to see him and some of the others there fly. They have at least two factory sponsored pilots, one for MinAir and one for JR.

I'm trying to get Shawn to take the drive with me. I think flying at a club like this may be the shot in the arm he needs to start advancing once again. I feel you really need to be around pilots that have abilities superior to your own to push you to get better. Both Shawn and I were getting into mild 3D after only 4 months in the hobby because we flew with Mark up here who just had what seemed to be natural talent.

That's why I laughed when Tom pushed to boot Mark out of the club. Look at a guy who's been in the hobby for 5 years that can barely manage to hover in one place tell a club that a guy with Marks abilities has no right to be in the club. That was and still is the joke of the century. A club needs guys with talent to give others like myself the mental push to try harder.

Don, is that a heli only club or do they fly planks there as well?

What we really need is our club and field so we don't have to drive an hour North or an hour South.

The best way to improve your skills is to fly with folks who are better than you! Of course, it always helps if they're willing to lend a hand.

They have it set up so that there are two flying locations, one for the planes, and one for helis. From the sounds of it they both fly at the same time.

I don't mind driving to fly with good people. That's why the trip to the SJHF field never bothered me. I only wish we had a field and pilots like that closer.

I don't mind driving either, but with auto gas at $2.75/gal. and only 168 hours in a week, I don't want to have to do a 150 trip every weekend get to/from the field. If we want a local field we need to pool our resources and work on it.

What do you suggest?

I've been scouring the local area using Google earth in conjunction with my GPS mapping software. When I find a place that looks reasonable i zoom to an altitude of 2500 feet, then I compare it in size to what I'm used to (usually the 4H field). Believe it or not, there is very limited accessible field space in out area. Imagine that! I have found a couple of spots however.

Anyone get out today? I stayed local after the long drive this morning. I just couldn't bear thethought of driving all the way back north when I have three fields within 5 minutes of my house.

I decided to go hang out with the plane guys at the 4H field. I figured the Bell 47was a good fit and one they wouldn't have a problem watching fly. After gaining their alliance by answering all their questions about it, then I broke out the EVO and Stratus At which point they all promptly landed and took a seat on the benches
