e-HeliDirect HDX 300-600 > T-REX 450 HDX 450 Trex tail vs Align 450 Trex tail question

I built a hdx 450 trex a few weeks ago. In flying it i could not stop the tail to wag. I initially thought it was the gyro settings. But, then I had a bad crash due to loss of control of the tail. I decided to go back and watch the tail assembly video. It says that the tail blade grips of the hdx are "trailing edge controlled" vs the align ones that are "leading edge controlled" hence "the pich slider wiil be working on the opposite direction". I have tried flying the heli with the the rudder channel reversed, (I thought that was the solution) but it only makes it confusing since the control of the tail is reversed compared to the align tail one. Is there any trick to this? Do the blades need to rotate clock wise? The video calls for counter clock wise. What am i doing wrong?

I would appreciate any input.

If you have reversed the rudder channel, then you also need to reverse the gyro direction, or they will be fighting each other.
Tail rotation should be counter clockwise.
I have the HDX.
Once you have your tail direction sorted out, do this.
Put your gyro in rate mode, keep adjusting the actual tail servo mount until you get a no drift tail.
Dont use any subtrim, or this wont work properly.
Naturally your servo arm should be at 90deg.
Once your tail is set in rate mode, just switch over to heading hold.
I usually restart my heli after that.
Check that your gyro is moving the tail blades correctly, done.
That should fix your problem.

If you bling it, they will come :D

Thanks Gorn

So, I should leave the servo direction inverted? and reverse the dierction of the gyro? As in the small switch that is on top of it? or placing the gyro facing down? I have corrected the direction of the tail blades to go counter clockwise.

thanks a bunch.

The layout of the servos make this heli really stable. cannot wait until I fly it.

If you have reversed servo direction, then you also need to reverse gyro direction. The switch on the gyro itself.
To test its correct, move your rudder stick, check that it moves the way you want it to.
To test that the gyro is correct, give the tail a tap to the right, the leading edge of the tail blade should turn toward the boom.
If it does not, then reverse the gyro direction, test again.
Do the same thing the other way, tap the tail to the left, leading edge of tailblades should now point away from the boom.

Glad to help, and yeah you'll love this heli.
Do yourself a favour though, go to www.readyheli.com and get the swash levelling tool for the Trex.
My HDX is dialled in, and flies really sweet now.

If you bling it, they will come :D
