| No offense here Mark, but is there a set definition now for what can be included in off topic? Is there going to be another category called "way off topic"? I just don't understand. So conversations about cars, what one does for a living, why someone uses a particular nickname, people requesting computer help, and discussions about what kind of pet you have are "on topic" enough to not be removed?
Chad was asking folks if he should participate in something. I responded, trying to save him some frustration, time, and money by advising him it's another MLM. This is what the internet is all about...reaching out to folks via a network, and getting useful information. What is the chance someone in your readership has experience with a particular idea, notion, or product who can relay their experience to someone in need when asked or called upon? A great chance, considering this forum is seen around the world. By creating an "off topic" forum, you provided the arena where just such conversations can take place without wasting time and bandwidth in otherwise "topic" forums.
I've lurked enough in threads regarding decisions you make about how you run your show, and in some cases I agreed, in others I didn't. It's your ball of wax, and you're free to do with it what you want. I never commented until now. I've seen enough, and will spend my time elsewhere from now on. Sure, i'm just one person who hasn't contributed enough to be a "senior" whatever, but i've been in the hobby enough years to know that it's all about people. I consider any forum no different than folks gathering at a flying field to sit around and chat in between flights. What you effectively did with Chad's conversation is boot him off the flying field for asking a question that had zero/zip/zilch to do with a violation of good morals, was decent in text, and was not even politically motivated. Logging off, for good.
