I love my DX6 and think it is the best thing since sliced bread, so I hope that someone out their can give me so insight on a problem I've been having.

I purchased a DX6 for my Helimax Mx450 back in Nov, got everything set up and proceeded to fly. After about 15 seconds into a hover I would get a tail glitch. Only in the tail. Only one time per flight. After the glitch everything is perfect.

This happened for probably 25 to 30 flights, and then it stopped. Last week I purchased a DE Park 6V BEC because I have heard some horror stories about the Align 35A ESC BECs going out. Low and behold the tail glitch came back, and again only once per flight.

I mounted the BEC on the frame of the heli close to the AR6000. I find it hard to belive that the BEC is causing the interferance and that it would only affect the tail. Is it possible that the BEC is emmitting so much RF noise that it is affecting my gyro?

I should also note that the gyro is mounted on the top frame of the heli, the AR6000 is mounted inside the frame, and the ESC is mounted under the frame.

GY401 w/JR DS3400G servo
Align BL35G ESC
HS65MG servos on CCPM
Align 430l motor
DX6 radio system
Dimension Engineering Park 6V BEC
CommonsenseRC 3S 11.1V 2100mah batteries

I think that covers everything.

The more I think about it the more I feel the problem is gyro interference. This afternoon I re-routed the tail servo wires away from the gyro. I also tried to get the gyro-to-reciever wires as far away from any other wires as possible. I haven't had a chance to test fly yet.

Let me know what you think.

Humor me and try to lube your belt. Static electricity will make that "glitch". I know this from experience. Many say don't use WD40, I have with no issues. Silicone lube is good.

watch that DE bec with the 3400 servo. I put my Trex in from overloading it. 1.25 amps is not enough.

I flew yesterday and the glitch appears to be gone.

I lubed the belt and also loosened the belt. It was way to tight.
Thanks for the advice guys.

It should be ok for very basic flight, right?

I would think so. I was doing piro flips when I lost control. I had several easier flights with it befor that without problems.

Glitches

I have left the ferrite ring that comes on the Align ESC attached on both my 450 and 600. This is supposed to help in eliminating RF.

On a TREX 450 SE I tried the following to cure the tail glitch:

1) Ferrite Ring
2) Silicon spray on the tail belt
3) External BEC rated for 3 Amps with a burst to 5 Amps
4) Every possible re-arrangement of the electronic components.

The glitch was still present. You would get a hard hit on the tail in flight, and the gyro would reset (take off with solid LED, land holding rudder to keep straight and with a flashing LED on the Futaba 401 gyro. This would happen every few flights, sometimes more than once in a flight.

Without changing anything else, I swappd out from the DX6 to a JR 10X with a 790 Rx.

This cured the glitch.
