Crashed? Discussion and Photos > Did you ever want to crash a Heli? Part 2/Update

Greetings folks.
Today I got the Shuttle parts that are slated for the inevitable video taped crash. However the machine I got is only half of a machine. So now I am in need of some spare parts if any one has any laying around?

The most important thing I need is a Parts breakdown on the Shuttle TS. I have no idea on what items are missing and I need to add.

Just a rough idea of the things needed to get this machine flight worthy.

Main Shaft
Feathering shaft
Flybar
Canopy
Horz fin
Tail boom support arms
Main shaft and start shaft Bearings
Starter adapter
All left side parts less frame
Left tail case
1 complete seesaw arm
complete washout assy
tail pitch slider assy.
Clutch

If anyone has any of this stuff laying in a box, or is willing to dig through the parts bins it would be greatly appreciated.

Of course all people that donate items will have an honorable mention in the end of the video.

For right now I have all the electronics to fill one machine but I could still use servos for machine #2

Sounds like someone hammered that Shuttle pretty badly. It's too bad this idea wasn't around 6 months ago....I finally got around to throwing away a box of Nexus parts.....there was a complete heli in there...somewhere.

Any folks out there with a recently crashed kit that they aren't going to rebuild? Join the party folks, instant fame on Ken's homepage, and you'll always be able to say:

Good thing you're out of the U.S.

I don't think the AMA would approve.

I am curious to know how you intend to put the heli in. It would be cool if you could configure it for an inflight boomstrike to add to the excitment.

I picked a hell of a day to quit drinking

Volkul,
I've just read through this post and I think its a cool idea! however just a plain ol' crash of any sort just would not cut it.
I mean one does not have to look hard to find all manner of crashes including 2 helis mid air etc.

No matter how difficult, as a pioneer in this field you MUST make this good!!

Pirotechnics, explosives, whatever it takes!! you know you wanna do it!

Just one for the melting pot (pun intended) it might be kinda fun if you could cover the poor thing in summat flammable which ignites whilst in flight but does not knock out the controls (at least not initially) so you can fly this fireball around doing 3d for a bit , you would probably need to rig it for detonation for the sake of safety. BUT lets not get too bogged down in the myre of PC. This aint gonna be 100% safe by any means, but the real fun stuff rarely is.

Also film this at dusk, so any fireball is more visible, keep the video at good quality so DSL ers can get a really good look!!

Plastic explosives might be the safest way for some fun or one of my mates makes fantastic bombs out of fireworks (might be difficult to get past customs tho!! hehe)

Good luck with this

For those of you just joining us, this is Part 2. See the developing story in Part 1. The thread has moved here, as Part 1 got quite lengthy with ideas....

The idea of 2 machines coliding in mid air is what we are leaning toward. Very dramatic.... We are going to have multiple cameras to get it from several angles.

Unfortunatly, the idea of pyrotecnics just isn't going to happen. The main reason is that some of the donated electronics are basically on loan and the people want them back afterward. So I have to honor that.

Vokul???? Any chance of getting my Shuttle parts back??? LOL

Only joking mate, I want you to smash this thing to smitherines!!!! And may it R.I.P., with a proper burial afterwards !!!

Looking at your list above, i never realised it required so many other parts, WOW. sorry mate I did try.
You said you may have had another donation for a Shuttle, is that still going ahead???

Sal,

First off, I am NOT complaining at all. This is a challenge for me to try to get all this project together. I am thrilled that you, MHTjef and Obsessive have been so kind in your donations. I've even had some cash donations. As I said "beggers can't be choosers." I just need visability on these posts so people see them and maybe some one else who hasn't seen the idea but would want to join in can help.

FWIW, I have an complete kit being donated to me from Cyberheli. That was going to be the second machine. Odds are it's now the primary machine I am considering for this little project ...

We'll get there!

Thanks again!

I can't tell from your parts list if this is a top start or belt start Shuttle. If it's a belt start, I have all the parts (Cooling fan, clutch, clutch bell, starter pulley, belt). I also have a muffler and old-style rotor head and linkages.

I may also have some blades and a tired old Enya 35. It probably won't run for very long (bad bearings), but you're welcome to it if you think it'll work.

Bimmer M3 - it is a Shuttle TS

But judging by the amount of missing main transmission parts, i'm sure by adding the belt start mechanics, this could easily be transformed into belt starting heli????

Sal,

I believe you are correct. How 'bout it, Ken? You want the stuff to make it a belt start?

Bimmer, I could use what ever you got! TS or Belt start I will try anything. I'll PM you with my address.

Sorry it took so long to get back to this ... had to work don't ya know.

As for the AMA... Well I'm not a member anyway But I am curious, does the AMA guide say anything about intentionally crashing any machine? Things that make you go Hmmm
