What do you guys think about the following: When faced with the situation of using different brands of servos and recievers and radio, what do you think is more important. Using same brand radio and receiver and different brand servos or same servo/receiver and different brand radio. The reason why I bring this up is I have Airtronics radio, would like to use JR servos on my next heli project. Should I get a JR reciever and JR servos or airtronics receiver and JR servos. Even though Airtronics can do both positive and negative shift, would the overall system be more reliable/glitch free if I use Air/Air receiver/JR servos? I know JR uses ABC&W in their receivers, how reliable would this be processing the signal from Airtronics transmitter?
Thanks!

Watch the wiring!!

My first concern for you is to make sure you have a handle on the servo/reciever wiring.

Airtronics servos are wired different than Futaba/JR/Hitec....which are all the same. If you get the Negative and Positive backwards, YOU WILL KNOW IT IN A HURRY

Check the link below to see what I mean:

As for mix and match.....I have a JR radio (8103)....in my Nexus I use the JR reciever and Futaba servos............in my Sceadu 50 I use a JR compatible Hitec Rx and Futaba Servos.

I don't really have much to suggest due to my lack of experience with Airtronics Tx's....but I'm sure others will help out!!

Airtronics is now compatible with Futaba and JR. If the plugs are blue and the receiver is blue in color then its compatible. The old airtronics are black and the pos and neg wire must be reversed to use in Fut and JR. Everything is compatible with each other but if it were me I would use a Air receiver with the Air tx. My set up is Airtronics TX and RX, 2 Air servos on pitch and cyclic a Fut servo on throttle and a JR gyro and servo on the tail.

I have a JR Tx and Jr, Hitec, and Airtronics Rx's and servos plus a number of Futaba servos and gyros. The old Airtronics connectors have the battery leads reversed as compared to the Futaba/JR standard, the newer Airtronics equipment uses the same type of plugs and wiring as JR. Check them thoroughly before you turn everything on. I mix and use them at will with the one exception that the Futaba piezo gyros only work with Futaba servos. If they pass a range check, I've not had a problem. As usual your mileage may vary. Hope this helps. Steve.
