I completed assembly of the upper and lower frames of my Hurrican 50 over the weekend. Overall I am impressed with the quality of the parts and with the build so far. I will elaborate on that further with pictures in another post.

However, I was admiring my Hurrican when I noticed something very interesting. I had installed the main gear and the main shaft and already tightened down the Jesus bolt. However while I was looking over everything closely, I noticed light between the nut and the machined surface of the auto hub!

What happened is that there is a section at the bottom of the machined surface that is not ground flat, and one of the corners of the nut had seated on that section, so it was only actually seated on that very small protrusion. One slight turn of the bolt with my wrench and it was no longer torqued down!

So I had to make sure that the flat section of the nut was at the bottom, and therefore the nut was seated on the flat, machined surface.

Don't want anyone out there to see their Jesus bolt come loose in flight!
