Yeah RC Helis are kinda cheap, i spend about twnety grand a year on them, but my 86 IROC Camaro cost me alot more. I wanna take that 496 big Block out of there and put it in a Fury.

heli's

vehicles you can actually profit somewhat wheras helis
have little ability to regain money spent
SENECA
What planet are you from ??
Making a profit from vehicles??
I have close to 10K in my GTX , it's not done yet
I have to run 94 octanne gas and on a good day I will get 10 mpg.
BUT they are Real FUN miles
Insurance costs me $ 600.00 per year
The parts are more expensive then heli parts like about 500 %
I have done ALL the work myself about 300 hrs work .
If I get real LUCKY I can sell it for $ 7500.00 tops
I think gyroman and RC_Heli_Guy will say the same

DavidH They do make 496 chevys . With a stroker kit
gyroman Why would you put a Chebby engine in a Plymouth ??

David H
The Chevy 496 Stroker is what it is called, it is a big block, and was never built by Chevy for any car, just as a racing engine. It puts out five hundred fifty horespower box stock.
It is a big step up from the 350 small block. Runs the quarter mile without NOS in high nines, with NOS low eights.

After watching some of you guys spending antics it seems to me that spending on helis is more akin to a gamblin nite on a boat. I mean there are the hi-rollers that spend the big bucks all the time like there is no tomorrow (thousands and thousands at once), and then there are the occasional slots players who might spend a couple hundred once or twice a yr. Anything can be addicting including helis, if you enjoy it and have sufficient funds to piss away constantly on it. I think if we all showed our W2s we would then understand how some fellas can get away doing this all the time and why some can not, thats the real bottom line here. Self control means little if money is no prob.......That said I spend too much on toys too but beats sitting @ the bar or in front of the boob tub so I understand. If I could afford it I WOULD have 20 helis believe me.

426 hemi raptor

Right SENECA
I think what will happen is as soon as you fire up the hemi
It will SUCK the raptor down the 2 850's and blast it out the
pipes.
Another idea down the drain

Personally Id like to see something realistic like a monster C/F Airwolf with twin TURBINES running it, Ill bet Peter could swing that 1 if he just wanted to do it, cause I know he can afford it. Id even fly to the masters to see that. If we all rib him enough who knows?

Vario body, custom mechanics, couple of turbines, few other bits and bobs, hell anyone could make one with hte money but I don't got the money First thing I would buy if I had moeny would be a turbine and a turbine model, as I am one of these people who pine for speed but don't like pylon racers...

Turbines

omurru, I think I would agree with you on that. If I could afford it, I would have a turbine jet cause like you I live for speed. I do ducted fans already and the turbines are cool, just not realisitic for me $$$ wise.
Speaking of jets, what about using a ducted fan engine in a heli?Definitely no shortage of power there!
Anyone ever tried that before?

how much do cars cost in the ur area??

Since you guys are talking about cars, I would like to know how much does a car cost in your area? over here in Singapore cars are pretty expensive e.g. a toyota carmy(2.0l) cost around US$70000, a BMW 520 will cost around a US$100k that leave us little to pay for helis.

I don't mean to get off the heli subject but there is a fellow I work with who's TMaxx RC truck is worth more than his real car. Now that is crazy! I don't know if you can call that dedication.
