Absolutely useless on a highway i'd imagine.

Cooper S has 165hp and weighs 2500lb that's better hp-weight ratio than a lot of other cars out there. 0-60 in 6.9sec Top speed 135mph. I'd say one could probably drive it on the highway no problem....

Neat ride to be sure. Or better said, "Groovy baby, yeah!" My uncle owned an original that I got many rides in. And the best feature of the current iteration is the fact they kept the original look.

I have an '84 Alfa Romeo Spider in my garage, so I completely understand the desire to own something "nearly" impractical. My next ride will be the Dodge Magnum I spoke so highly of in the GTO topic. Actually, it will be my wife's car, but she doesn't complain. After all, I'll be prying her fingers from the wheel of her Volvo turbo wagon to put her in a Hemi.

WARNING WARNING WARNING SERIOUS POS

Gidday

WARNING WARNING WARNING
When I did my auto electrical apprenticeship about 20 yrs ago if I was bad, smart mouthed, late to work or the boss missed out on sex the night before I had to work on the POS mini.
As they were a quality car of english decent as was most of our fleet you got to work on them quite a lot.
About as much fun as trying to nail a dozen soft poached eggs to a tree.
I reccomend you dont get sucked into buying the nasty little pieces of festering turd. Worst of all when I met my wife she Had to have one so I got to help her buy one (clubman) . For the about 5 years keeping it going, trying to convince her to sell. No joy, so I had to resort to writing it off without injuring myself, quite a feat.
Most amazingly this week they featured on the news as there are a swag of them here that people are restoring then shipping them to the US where the crazy folks are paying 10 g for a restored one - bizzare!!
I wonder if they realise they will have a club account at the chiropractor to straighten themselves out after any trip of more than 1/2 hour!!
sorry I edited Only thing with this topic is in the vote section you need a "shoot it" option.
Kind regards Don

PS I voted not my cup o' tea.

True, but then, would you really want to? Back country blasting is what that chasis likes.

Hey, back in the day, the mini cooper was a killer on the world rally circuit. It was so good that when it won the championship, the french contingent got it banned coz they said the lights on it weren't up to regulation specifications. It was light, handled brilliantly and was small enough to make the tricky bits of most rally circuits seem like three lane highways.

The new version is a giant leap from the original, more BMW than Mini. Too plush to be pure. I'd have one in an instant though.

Pity, in Malaysia, they cost about $60,000. Damned tax office!!

I dunno...it's not too bad lookin' for a Chick Car!

BTW the Poached Egg thing was Great! ROTFLMAO

Look, as long as British Industry keep making cars they won't be tempted to branch out and start making Computers...the last thing I need is an oil slick on my desk!

I test drove one out here in England when they first came out... Didn't like how the tach was right behind the steering wheel and was so big!! It was so big that it blocked some of the other instruments..

As for the Cooper "S", Haven't driven one yet... The car in my opinion is still to small to be able to carry helis and field equipment around.
