I recently watched my Caliber 30 crash very close to me and my friends. What was the cause of this. Well the radio signal was brokem because the Receiver(Sanwa) Crystals cover came of the receiver and the crystal fell out. The heli went totally out of control and flew into the ground at about 60mph.....very close to me and my friends. If it had hit one of us well....... Im just letting people know its a very avoidable accident if you just put some tape over the crystal. It also saves you from having to pay nasty repir bills.

You might want to invest in the Quick UK RX case.
It's a solid plastic unit that you screw together and foam is inside.
The case is so solid that I would expect the receiver to survive in even the most serious crash. It will also make it impossible for the crystal to come out.
I have an X-Cell and a small Rappy.
The Rappy is there to try new unknown manuvers where a higher crash rate is unticipated so it is kept on the cheap and the only concession has been the CF tail servo pushrod and the boom mounted tail servo mount.
But even on it I invested in one of those cases.

I have a strongbox for my receiver too. Not sure who its made by, but its great. It has a lot of foam that compresses very nicely, a hole in the back with an O-ring for the receiver wire to go out of, and the other side has these rubber lips that prevent the servo wires from being pulled out of the receiver, but without actually hurting the wires themselves. Held together with 4 screws. The sucker is bulletproof.

I bought it from MTA Hobbies at their booth at the San Diego Fun Fly. Their web site is www.mtahobbies.com

Not sure if they have it it on their site or not, but you can call and see if they still have it.

Velcro

I just wrap a velcro strap around the RX and secure over the crystal. This makes crystal changes a lot easier. Of course this only comes in handy for the top mounted crystal RX's

simple solution - i use a piece of electrical tape wrapped around the crystal/case. Then the standard velcro wrapping that i have always used. Crystal will not come loose at all.

Save some $$$

Go to r#$%o shack, and purchase a small "project box" 3X2X1.25 perfect for your receiver. cost 1.99, Drill two holes, on the ends, one a little large than the the first, What I did was carve a 3/4 of a circle on the edge of the box where the lid meets up and cut a fairly large grommet so you can just slip the servo wires in between the cut, pop it into the hole on the end with the antenna out the other hole using tiny grommet and a lil hot glue to seal it. You can still pull the hot glue away for repairs. Pad it with the standard receiver foam. Total cost 2.50 and a little time.

Hope this helps someone on a budget.
