Differential

Negative differential in flaperon mode linked to the flap switch (ie for gliders negative differential when flaps are in the "spoileron" mode

How about a delay in throttle change when going from one flight mode to the next, that way you are not just hammering the heli when the throttle servo jumps up..I actually stripped some gears on my Electric heli this way, as I wanted one flight mode to have a much lower headspeed than my 3d flight mode, and when I switched between the two, the motor spooled so fast, it stripped the main gear.

Yes I did see the smiley, so I know you were kidding, but could you imagine if everyone were able to hack the code? I would not go to the flying field for fear of somebody's programming mistake launching a heli towards me. Yipes!!

Two things occur to me:

Two things occur to me:
What if the Rx in the other guy's Tx is dickey, fails to pick up your transmission, switches on on your channel...????
What if a piece of dust or conductive whatever settles between the extremely finely spaced IC pins?

Mr Beard, now that you have had time to peruse and digest the wants and wishes of your loyal fans, which of the suggestions do you warm to and when may we expect to see the DX7-II with these innovations incorporated? If not already requested I would like to see a Li-I or Li-Po battery and charging system.

One thing I came across recently:

I am building a pattern plane with top hinged ailerons and funky control horn geometry. I would like a fundamental travel adjust screen that lets me set the servo position at a variety of stick points for each aileron, similar to a pitch curve. Then, with this established as a baseline, I would like the radio to reference this curve whenever I apply expo or mixing to the aileron servos.

So, I want a multipoint (7 or so) map for the aileron (or any) channels, rather than the subtrim/EPA 3-point map that currently exists.

This would also be useful for MCCPM helicopters like the Hirobo Eagle that have an assymetry in the roll control geometry.

I hope this makes sense.

Gib,
You are referring to something like the Mulitplex Evo "Servo Calibration" feature, correct? That is, a 2-, 3-, or 5-point curve which is the last thing applied to the particular channel before its way out of the transmitter.

How about a throttle kill function switch, with digital throttle trim. For the life of me, I cannot see why all radios do not have this?
Simple programming, get away from that JR Heli stuff, eek! Futaba owns programming hands down, simple, effective, logical.

Not having to turn off the transmitter to change models.

Backlit display, with a nice screen, go all out, touch screen, if you want to lead the way.

Lithium battery for power in the transmitter.

did I mention, throttle kill?!

How about a temporary trim almost where futaba has the levers on each side. Make it so that you can temporarily assign a specific trim to that lever (elevator, rudder, etc). That will allow you to easily trim one specific thing while in the air because the lever is at a convenient spot under one of your smaller fingers. The trim adjusted on that lever will be kept in memory as your current trim so you can change it to trim something else and so on.

I really hate needing to land to adjust trim. This would allow quick adjustment in flight while not needing to dedicate the lever to a specific trim which could be bumped accidentally later on. You would be able to unassign it to nothing but whatever trim was set would be kept when you change the assignment or unassign it.

John,

My memory of the EVO servo calibration is not very clear, but what you describe sounds similar.

A simple way to say what I want is that I want the radio that can make bad control surface geometry look like good control surface geometry from the user perspective with the use of one simple screen.

I don't have a good idea schematically how it would work, but from a user perspective, I would like to be able first "linearize" each control surface, going from one absolute of travel to the other.
That is, I would give the radio a map of what is needed to make the surface move proportionately to the channel throw.

Then, when I add expo, differential, dual rates, flaps, or any other mixing, I would like to know that the radio will not introduce any unwanted (unasked for) assymetry or non-linearity in the surface movement. It seems like this would be possible, since it knows from the first step exactly what is required to produce linear throw, so it should know how to produce expo, etc.

What I am running into with my current radio is that I can find various kluges to make the radio work in a given flight condition, but when I make a change such as expo, I get unexpected results.

I hope this is a little clearer.

Mr Beard has stopped talking to us it seems. - maybe we want too much! But hopefully he has taken some of our suggestions on board and is now at the bench hard at work perfecting the even more wonderous DX7-II due for release when Mr Beard?

Well I have been using my DX7 for a month now, and I LOVE it. The only thing that I would like to see it dual rate on the Tail. I hope when or if another version comes out, it is as affordable as the DX7. Remember all the "improvements" WILL come with a price. Again I hope things don't get too expensive.

Just my opinion

Thanks Paul for the awesome radio

I have been using this radio with great results and am happier with it than I expected. I find the programming a bit better than my 9303, but not quite as user friendly as a 9Cap, but close.

What about rubber side grips, ala 12mz?
Removable antenna, BNC connector, hide in the base ala 12mz?
One button to get into programming, instead of 2.
Better display.
Able to buy just the transmitter alone, this is nice as the system gets older and more and more folks have receivers laying around.
The red JR sticks, stock!
Come with some decent stickers, or a t shirt.
Get ahold of Apple and slam the IPhone into it, that way everything we need for life is in one electronic item? !

I'm sure he meant the ability to move the rudder d/r to a usable switch - Throttle-hold must be on the top right for most of us which nullifies our use of rudder d/r.
