Any suggestions on battery config and set up using a Actro 24-5 with a CC85HV. I have 3 Dewalt 36v battery packs A123 set up, but have no idea the best way to break them down to work with this motor. Would like to use it for A/P, should I stay with 3, 10 cell packs and if so can the Arco handle 36 volts? Also need suggestions on the best way to charge them.
This is based on a converted raptor 50 that was streched to handle 710mm blades and looking for about 1800 plus head speed.
Thanks

Do you mean the Actro 24-5? You could go with 2-12 cells in parallel, and adjust your gear ratio 8.0:1-9.0:1 for the desired headspeed. If the HV85 will handle 10 cell lipo it should handle the dewalt cells at 12 cell as the volt per cell is lower. What size heli did you have in mind? Perhaps someone could chime in here on the charging of the A123 cells.

i had a actro 24-5 on 8.18:1 gearing in the first 3 videos i did of my
E Stratus...
24-5 on 10s
24-5 on 11s
this was with 690 blades i think 710's would do fine and since you said A/P work you could do mabey a 10:1 or 9.6:1 ratio and get a lower head speed.

Thanks

Thanks guys, yes it is a actro 24-5.
Let me run this past you as a possiblity.
I think I am going to try 2 14 cell packs. I will break each 14 cell packs down to 2 7 cell packs, mostly for charging purposes. So actually it would be 7s4p which totals 28cells at 3.6v each gives 50.4 volts and 4600ma. I am trying to get 9 to 10 min fully loaded.
That may be a bit much to ask but I just cant see droping $1200 for lipos and having to wait several hours for each pack to charge.
So I will keep looking for a better way

if you are using

24.5 actro it has 435 KV

10s lipos 37v
85 main
10 pinion
at 90 percent efficiency
you should get
head speed of
1704 rpms

12s A123 are equivalent to 10s Lipos

with the CC85HV you can run 12s lipos with is the same as 14s A123

14s A123 packs are the limit for the CC85HV Limit is 50 Volts

there is a mod from CC for the 85HV to increase it to 55Volts
