Wow, I bet that thing flies like it's on rails....well done. I like it, when are you releasing your new kits with all the bits already in it?

I'm not sure what amazes me the most...

how well this thing flies, or how easy it was. For those of you that don't know John, he builds his helis plus or minus nothing. Yet he put this together in a day or so. I could tell by his second gallon of fuel he was happy with it. Sorry John, but you just couldn't hide that big smile after those great Chaoses.

Nice rig for sure I am not one to know the difference between underslung or over the top flybar feel, I am sure there is or there wouldn't be the two types in our hobby.

But, the QUK V-Max conversion for Raptor 90's provides all the same upgrade needs minus the underslung Flybar, but adds CCPM and push-pull control surfaces on everything except throttle and tail. The V-Max deffinately flies like it is on rails and tracks better than any other Raptor I have flown but keeps the instant instability necessary for dumping out of stable flight into violence.

I'm not sure the head can tell the difference---can it?

My guess is this sums it up:
Quote
The flight qualities are everything the Synergy has to offer, but the control inputs are much truer, which proves that even with the many interaction removing adjustments the 14MZ has to offer, the control inputs are still not completely true in a CCPM setup.
With the latest crop of high torque and high speed servos I wonder if we will see some regression across product lines to the traditional mechanical CCPM control systems?

To all, thanks for the encouraging thoughts. I have come up against a problem that I had not considered. Even though the non-CCPM flies much better than the CCPM, a disadvantage of the mechanical arrangement is there are a lot more pieces to wear and cause slop in the controls. I have flown about 10-12 gallons and the slop is increasing pretty rapidly. When the Raptor was designed the flying was not as abusive as it is now and the wear did not occur as quickly. While the Raptor has been unparalleled as an engine test bed, whether it is a long term replacement for my Synergy is in question right now.

The V-max would solve this issue, but then one is back to more expensive pieces and non-widespread availability of parts, which were two reasons for the Raptor experiment.

Nice job John

Friends forward me you article.
I was Synergy..... I sold it because too expenses in crash.
Now I fly 90 se different machine but reliable.
Last week I received the Vmax ccpm conversion and I was looking for a under fly bar head... top dragon was the favorite, but now N9 head will be the must.
I already order the part, I will assy ASAP the VMAXSYRAPPY and I let you know.

Really, appreciate your job.
Thanks John

It would be awesome if someone like Kasama would pick up on this and offer a "Synergy Like" head upgrade for the R90.

TDG already offer an underslung head similar to the synergy's

John, I'm happy to here that someone else feels the same way about mccpm verses eccpm. I always have liked the feel of mccpm. I own and fly a few eccpm helis. All, seem to suffer some type of interaction. It's a constant annoyance.
I am surprised about your statment about the increasing wear on your Raptor. I own both a Raptor 90(mccpm)and a Fury Extreme(eccpm). I find both to wear at the same rate. Could you please explain as to what parts seem to wear so rapidly. This is a very interesting mod and one I am considering. Just need to think about it somemore, as my favorite is the Raptor and not the Fury. I know it goes against popular opinion but I can't help what I like. At least it handles the same way day in and day out.
