Actually Helimike, Ive only seen the K&B in ads!

BUT, from previous experience with K&B engines over the years in plankers, theyre pretty good engines - just not great. This is an all new engine so it could be very different, but Im just not sure. Even in the RC car community, no one has really heard of K&B engines - just like most heli guys Ive had a few in planks - some were really bad, some were pretty good. Again, nothing stellar.

If it fits and has more power than the OS, it is still worth a shot!

what about?

what about a nova rossi .12 pull start?

K&B

You're right Jason. It seems like the K&Bs at the field in the planks are kind of like the Super Tigers. When you get a good one, they scream, but they can be a little bit of a pain at times too.

Gear ratio

Are you saying that the main gear ratio is 12:1 ?
HHI says it is 9:1.
Which is correct ?

Thanks, Chuck

Q15 Gear Ratio

The gear ratio is 12:1. It has a 120T main gear and a 10T pinion.

Tony:

Are you using the Hacker B40-8L?

I am also wondering about the all up weight with the Quickie 15 if you are going brushless. The heli is fer sure heavier than my Voyager.

If I remember there are 2 crank sizes for the 12-15 size car motors.
A long shaft and a short one.
Can anyone verify what one the q-15 uses?
I need to get my motor on the way. I want to go pull start buggy.

I just came from the hobby store and I found out there are 3 crank styles
now.
I really need to know what one this chopper uses so I can pick a motor ffrom our local HS.

Gear ratio

12:1 sounds better. It increases the number of suitable engines, providing the crankshaft will work.
Jon, will any of the car style cranks work ?
I had called HHI and was told the ratio was 9:1.
Thanks, Chuck

This is what you need, I am using the OS 15CVA which is a converted car motor, the prob is the crank is 5 mm by 78 mm which fits perfect.
I dont think the car version has a crank this big.

Did you get yours

Hey Tony, you've been a little quiet here... Did you get yours yet? I am wondering what you figure the all up weight is going to be going brushless?

I wonder how much heavier it will be than the Voyager?
