Hi guys,
I have just received my DX7 and want to use it on a Raptor 30V2. I have never setup a Radio with a heli before so I could use some help please in both connecting the servos, gyro etc to the receiver and basic programming of the DX7 for a beginner.

The Raptor consists Futaba throughout:

3 x S9001 on cyclic
1 x S9001 on throttle
1 x S9253 on tail
1 x GY401 Gyro

So far I have managed to bind the DX7 and the AR7100 receiver and set the DX7 on model 3 (Raptor) in heli mode using default settings. Also I have connected the power and gyro to the receiver but not sure where the other servo connections need to go.

Sorry if these are dumb questions

Thanks
Gary

Try this:

CH1 - Throttle
CH2 - Aileron (the one on top of the pitch tray)
CH3 - Elevator - one on the right side above tail servo
CH4 - Gyro Rudder
CH5 - EMPTY
CH6 - Pitch - on the right that makes the tray go up and down
CH7 - The red connector from the 401 that does the gain

You can swap CH 5 and 7, I just do it like that as on my old radio the governor channel is 5 and gyro is 7.

If you play about with the radio you'll soon figure out how to set stuff up.

Thanks I got that done and all working as it should. Are the default heli settings on the DX7 OK for a beginners use? or do I need to set the pitch curve for instance?

thanks

NO. you need to actually program the transmitter w/ curves, travel
limits, etc.

I've never used the pitch curve screen on any of my models as I set it up mechanicly so zero pitch is mid stick. You may want to play with the endpoints to get the desired pitch

You will want to play with you throttle curve though, which is something you need to experiment with at the field.

Make sure your tail blades are twisting the way they should before you power it up, good idea to get someone to give it the once over before you start it up too.

dx7 with 401 gyro

Hi I also have the Raptor 30 V2 with the DX7 and Futaba 401 gyro
,, I also am a NOOBIE and I dont understand!!!!!!!!!

It appears there are many different ways to set up the gyro. Her are a few of the ways that I partly understand.
#1 ---------plug the gyro sense lead into the Gear Channel(5) and just use the travel adjust for that channel to set the end points (+50/-50) then use the gear switch to go from HH to non HH
#2----------Go into program and set the aux2 OR GEAR to the gyro function and the use the Gyro sence on set up menu and set 25 for non HH and 75 for HH-----make sure you re-set you travel adjustments back to 100% on what ever channel you use for gyro sense and plug sense gyro cable into it. you can then set the HH and NonHH up to use the Rudder D/R switch or in the same menu you can select it to function with your flight mode switch.

Questions:
wich way is best?
If you use the Rudder D/R to go from HH to Non HH what happens to the Throttle Hold Function??

PLEASE PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP. I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTION TO GUIDE ME THROUGH.

You need to set your pitch range (ie 10/-10)with ATV. 0 @ mid stick is set mechanically . Then work with throttle curves to get a consistant head speed. Honestly check out the raptor technique site . It should be very helpfull and answer most any question you could think up about a raptor.
