Has anyone ever tried getting their paws on one of these foreign beasts and being able to get parts support and everything? After reading the latest issue of Model Heli World, it seems that this heli is designed just as good if not better than a 90 sized Vigor CS. I found a local store in Singapore, www.rotor.com.sg. I don't have worries ordering from Singapore as I lived there for two years. Unfortunatley though, they want around 1600 US dollars for it and I still don't know if I could get parts very easily.

Get one and you'll never want to puchase a general stacked frame heli design ever again (unless it's for crash and learn of course). Period.

There are some upgrades I would seriously think of putting on mine.

Upgrades?

What upgrades would you put on the Sylphide?

Simon,

K&S 782 ball raced tail PC link
K&S 918 tail direct servo mount (even though I've been advised not to)
K&S 798 Ball races washout links
K&S lower frame upgrade (don't know K&S number)
The new JR Gracy Fuse
Maybe the new K&S tail gear box since it's lighter
K&S carbon paddles (again don't know the number)
K&S 998 metail tail blade grips
HM tail boom when it comes out

And maybe the floating engine mount for 90 size when JR think of producing one.

won't bother with the K&S retracts since I don't like retracts and extra servos rob much needed energy from the battery. Mr Kunii seems to use "unmotorised" retracts.

Note I do not see the Sylphide as a 3D machine. The tail isn't as stiff as the XCell Furys, same applies to Freya EX WC.

synodontis,
That's cool, but apart from the paddles and fuse, none of those upgrades is going to make the heli fly any differently...

the new lower main frame has a better roll rate so K&S says.

Also the tail gearbox is lighter and so is the tail blade grips, so that might effect flight slightly

And a having a more stiffer tail boom certainly does help!

Could you believe it that the Sylphide uses plastic tail blades, and I find them much better than all the expensive carbon blades I've tried!!!

Sylphide 90

I just bilt one and the are some things for a helicopter that cost that much you would think for instance you would get a metal fan, NOT you get a black plastic fan. The servo cut outs in the carbon will not let you put a servo in them, you have to widen then about 3 mm, minor detail but for $2600.00 you could expect better. A plastic receiver tray not carbon like Koyoso 60 or 90. Its a nice heli but questionable for the dollars. I saw one post where they said it was robust, NOT. But it is not very heavy, I guess you can't have robust and a lite heli. I hope it flys like a fairy on the wind (Sylphide) I hope to fly it in the next week or so if the weather permits.

I always sand down the sharp edges of the carbon frames where servo wire contact might take place

I have crashed one and the main frame stayed in tact!!! It is that strong, but the tail is delicate.

Lets all remember people before Sylphide bashing that this bird is purely foreign. It is not meant for 3D like many of us prefer. This is an FAI heli because that is most popular in Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, and China. Also, if I remember right from my trip to Europe and from living in Singapore, JR servos for other countries use a smaller case and that would explain smaller mounts. Also, is this heli really $2600 US or $2600 Singaporean dollars? I thought it was only around $1600 US.

Which blades on my Sylphide???

Who can tell me which blades i can fly on my sylphide instead of the JR´s? At the moment i´m trying it with SAB 71, but i have to put some rings on both sides of the blades because they are to small.

Are there any other blades which will fit its best???
Is it possible to get V-Blades with a 5mm hole???

TG contest 700mm is what I use, but you need 3mm blade bolt spacers if I recall correctly.

Bit of a shame that, but you could try the K&S 1143 blades. they're very expensive but they are what Mr Kunni uses.

Any 680mm or greater length blades should do as long as you get the right spacers. Between the blade and the spacers it should be a snug fit - don't have too much of a gap or you could damage the blade grips on tightening.
