| Does your Knight have the all 6mm shaft or the step down 5mm to 6mm shaft?
The all 6mm shaft uses a rubber O-ring between starter coupling and top bearing, the step down version places the O-ring between a washer on the step and the clutch bell bearing.
Sounds like you might be missing this little slop eliminator.
