Hey C,

Yes. I will paint it white along with the rotor head. I have thoughts of making a dummy Bifilar for the main. I have yet to decide what rotor system I will use but once that choice is made then I will go from there. I really like the OF head on my Comanche and am leaning towards that. Plus the center of the hub allows for easy attachment of a Bifilar.

Lee D says hello.

Thanks for shout to Lee for me, and that main head is nice, should not be hard to make the Bifilar.

OK,

Where are we on this thing. I received the SD mechanics and tail rotor system from Sandy at Scale Jet. The tail gear box and hub are a friggin work of art. I had never really look close at the SD mechanics from scalecopter however, they are a work of art as well. They are very simple, and well, the carbon side frames are just BAD A$$. I got a great deal on the Jakadofsky turbine, NIB, off Runryder, Thanks Cal. I am waiting for the tail drive system, then we will be off and running on this build. Yes, I have glue and everything ready to go. I have yet to purchase the main rotor system. I am leaning towards the OF but have am looking at a couple of other options.

Here are a couple of shots with the turbine and mechanics setting in the fuse. This is not a small engine. Its like the size of a coffee can maybe a touch smaller. The fuse swallows this thing up.

Loved the Duke build. Came upon it after it was done, so I got to see it all at once. This one will torture me!!!

fla,

You think it tortures you. Its been sitting around for over a year just waiting to be touched. My current project is moving along very well so I have the time to work on this beauty.

I hope to have the rest of the powertrain components within the next couple of weeks. Stuff like the head, main blades, and make a firm decission on a tail drive choice, that kind of stuff. The major assembly should go pretty easy. The wood structure that comes with the Scale Jet kit fits almost perfectly right out of the box.

In the perfect world I would like to have this in the air by OCT/NOV and spend the winter detailing.

This should be easy compaired to my last project.

OH SNAP, I just jinxed myself.

Can I get a Do-Over.

Butch - You continue to be the "ScaleMaster" in my book. Thanks for sharing these out of the world projects. They give all us wannabees something to shoot for.

"Scale master". You are WAY, WAY to kind. I am lucky enough to play with the real masters. I hope to acheive that someday.

FYI: No one can be considered a "Master, Expert, Buff, and/or other title, claiming greatness", of anykind, unless they are 100 miles removed from domicile, and/or, unknown by the local populace exceding the 100 mile radui, from said domicile, therefore, unable to question the claim of "Master, Expert, Buff, and/or other title, claiming greatness".

Well

your work is very, very nice. I've never had a scale bird, but have always wanted one. Ooooo lemme take that back. Along time ago I did put together and paint up a Jet Ranger fuse for my shuttle, once I moved onto large 3d birds. Sold that one. I also bought a nice Long Ranger Fuse for an X-Cell 60. Had all the wood goodies and tale drive in, primered, etc. and dropped out of the hobby 12 yrs. ago. Ended up leaving it behind in a move along with several older X-Cells 6 mos. ago (got tired of all that $$$$ sitting there laughing at me). Kills me now that I'm back. Parts woulda been hard to find for the machine, but for scale, I would've been OK. Can't believe I did that.
So I am living vicariously thru you Butch. Go man go!!

Yes I said "OH SNAP"

In this politically correct world we live in today, which in real life, I sometimes, if at all subscribe...

Edit "...................................................."

We all know what OH SNAP means. LOL

A Little SD Bling

How about a little SD Bling for your Saturday Morning.

I had to install the Jaka side frames on the SD Mechanics. The Jaka side frames are the longer one. I have to make machine a support for the aft side of the engine so I did not install the lay shaft with gear for the tail drive. As you can see in the photos, the rear frame support is drilled for this support.

Hey Butch nice dog. How does the turbine drive the gear. Does it take power of the comopressor shaft? Can I see Pictures? Steve P
