Hi all I have a question, my son is now 6 and he has a VMax6 LMH. The noise of the heli seems to intimidate him alittle. Just wondering is there any real benifit to converting to lectric? I kno once he gets used to the sound of the heli, he wont be so intimidated. Just a thought I had maybe some one has some opinions on. Basically he is still learning to control his hovers. Thanks guys.

I thought the biggest problem was getting the engine to run right? I remember seeing posts, a few years back, where people thought that motor was hard to set up and a bit finicky. Search for eLMH conversion here (or at rcgroups.com) and read about some of the electric conversion. Don't know if LMH still sells a conversion kit. And don't know if converting (moving servos, 35A electronic speed control, brushlwess motor, 8-cells, grips, etc.) would be worth it on such an old design. Maybe a new heli like the T-rex? However, not having to worry about fuel, noise, and a starter is a real joy. I started on the Corona 120 and don't regret it.

Heya, thanks for the info. But I have owned 3 different LMH's and I have not had one issue any of the motors. They are sometime finiky to start but once started they run great. I started with a ZXX and there after found a LMH but quickly grew out of it. I still liked it. Crash after crash it just kept flying. Was main reason I bought one for my son. He can fly/hover on G2 fine but once out on the lake/field he gets really intimidated. But thanks again, I will deff look into the info.

DSS,

At six years of age a little intimidation is expected. Heck, I was scared stiff when I first flew my Corona two years ago and I hate to tell you how old I am. Good to see that you are teaching your son to fly -- good skills and an enjoyable hobby to share. I'm sure with time he will get use to the noise and be a great pilot.

Best wishes.

I converted a LHM 100 last year and it made a completely different chopper out of it. Bought around 98 but didn't fly if much. I've put more time on it in the last 6 months than all the time since I bought it. Himax HC 3510-1100 outrunner. 18 tooth gear I got from the local hobby shop that's big into cars. Akarus Profi Gyro. I locked up the mechanical gyro. TP 2100 lipo for batt. Runs for about 10 mins if I don't get into trouble doing thing I'm not supposed to Much tougher than any other helis I have or have had. Still running the stock plywood fuse. Pretty well unbreakable even from a 20 ft. drop. Nicknamed Rotorooter. Making a set of skis for it right now till this blizzard blows over. Won't have to dig so deep for it in the snow.

Ok I am going to convert this heli to lectric. So what all motors and esc can I use? Align 450 stuff or no? Sorry I kno nothing of lectric helis. I am just tired of taking the little LMH out to fly always having to mess with the motor. Not looking for anything spendy here (thanks flypaper but that motor abit too much for what I am looking at spending) just something I can use to take out on any day and get my fix with out having to get all my gas gear out just to go fly.
Is the LMH bigger then a Trex?
Thanks guys for any input
