I found four GEM 2000 battery monitors at the local hobby shop on clearance for get this 4.99 each. They were all new in the package and never opened. They all appear to work fine except the fact that they go solid before the battery hits 4.8v. I know there is a screw adjustment on the GEM to adjust when the light goes solid, however, my question is: Does anyone have a real good way to get this set perfect without sending back to the mfg. The only thing I have attempted is to get a battery down to the vicinity of 4.8 and set the screw. I just don't know how accurate this would actually get its setting. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
Joe

Either fly your heli or discharge your flight battery down to a voltage you want the light to go solid. Check it with a volt-load meter. Then turn on the heli so the pack will draw down to whatever voltage your shooting for again under the load of the servos. I would say 4.8. Lift the corner of the paper decal up on the GEM and turn the pot one way or the other until the light goes solid, then turn it back until the just begins to flash again. That will now be set for that voltage. It may take a try or two to get what you’re looking for. The only thing that makes it a bit tuff is that when you check the battery under a loaded volt meter and then unplug it and turn on your heli the load that the servos pull idling might be less and the voltage will climb a bit back up. It doesn’t have to be precise, just close. I would calibrate it on the high side to be safe if your not sure of the setting.
