Had to share. Just got my K50 3D from Skyline today - thanks BobJ.

Looks good. Frames are pre-assembled as are the rotorhead and t/r gearbox. Canopy is plastic - I don't have a K50 Sport but it looks the same as that one to me.

Can't wait to get it flying

Knight 3D and Knight Pro, which one is superior?

The Knight 3D is the 'new kid on the block'. The specs of the two machines Pro and 3D are similar. The Pro has been around a few years now.

I would go for the 3D version. I beleive there is/will be a conversion kit from Pro to 3D, but that's an expensive way of doing it! Just go for the 3D.

Have a look at the two machines, and you will see some more 'modern' thinking in the design of the 3D version. It truly looks like a 'mini 90' to me.

In summary, I think the 3D is the kit to own OR the sport version if on a lower budget.

Hi,

I had a really good look round the 3D at the weekend. Great heli. I have the sport at the moment but will hopefully upgrade soon.

I think it benifits over the pro. Lots of little changes: Better tail belt drive system, better lighter frames, push/pull control systems, anti vib engine mounting. These are a list of a few differences.

I also had the chance to fly it as well. Very very smooth and precise model. I thought the sport was good but it has just seemed to trim out the few slight inaccuracies that the sport does have.

I think it will have to be a must upgrade soon.

Cheers

Question?

Not trying to start some type of war here, but I have a serious question.

Has their quality improved?

I had a sport version and loved the way it built and flew, but after about 1 to 2 cases of use it started to wear very quickly. Without having ever being crashed it went through 3 main gears, 2 auto bearings, 2 counter gears, 2 horizontal fin mounts, 1 servo tray, most thrust bearings, 2 bearing blocks, etc.., etc.. The good news is, these parts are cheap, but I got tired of coming home from a day's flying and needing to rebuild the thing.

A good friend of mine purchased the Pro version at my recommendation, but after 3 weeks of parts failures, he gave up and went back to his prior heli brand. I felt bad about recommending the heli to him before I had given it a longevity test. If the 3-D version has improved parts quality it could be a real winner, but if not, I'll sacrifice a 1/2 pound and stay with something that lasts a bit longer.

V8Buggy - You seem to have had a bad experience!! I can't comment on the Sport as I don't own one but I personally have thrashed a Knight 50 Pro mercilessly for nearly a year and haven't had to change ANY of the parts you mentioned

ez2bgman - I haven't signed up to post pictures on RR I'm afraid (costs $20 or something like that?)

Well I Was Hoping That Was The Case As..

I really did like the way it flew. I recommended this heli to several locals and I'm sure hoping their experiences are better. Especially since they got rid of Raptors and Evos to get one.
