| As I mentioned I originally considered including an electrical connector to tap the individual cells in the Makita battery for balancing. However, with the memory chip Makita installs in the battery, my lack of information in that regard and most importantly the liability in the advent a fire created by charging by a method I advocated, I decided it would not be wise to pursue that part of it. (Insurance companies always look to sue any parties they can hold even partly responsible for losses.)
On the flip side, Makita claims to get 2.5 times the cycles from their lithium batteries by the combination CPU in their charger, a memory chip in the battery and carefully controlling the variables and cooling during the charge cycles. Since the chargers are going for around the price of a battery now, it seems cost effective to go with the Makita charger.
Add to that the attractiveness of the Makita LXT cordless tools which I think are the best on the market now, then a purchase of one of their very long list of cordless LXT tools is hard to resist. Who else offers a cordless concrete vibrator, grinder, portable band saw, pneumatic rotary hammer, fluorescent work light, blower, chain saw, auto-feed screw gun, rebar cutter or job site radio. I find it difficult to decide which tools I don't really need.
Anyway, all the best whatever you do.
