Depends

Is this for use as a hard core 3D or sport flying model? Can you get parts more easily for one than the other? What do the other folks in your area fly so you can share parts and information?

I don't think anyone else in this area flies either one....mostly sport flying i guess....i'm looking for another bird that will go well with my Evo90 but not be as expensive to run...hence the gasser vrs the smaller heli [50 size]

If you don't mind spending a little more now and not have to upgrade later, Then bergen is the best choice. I own these my self and have never been disapointed. I have never understood why someone will buy a less expensive plastic heli and spend another thousand or more trying to make it as good as a bergen. Just buy the best to start with.

You'll get better support from Bergen.

I can't believe you're comparing the two, as they are way different. bergen's seem nice quality, and are just good, hardy, american designed and build helis. The seem to be good performers, but nothing wild. A 3dmp is an electric heli ( although they now have glow changed to it I guess), designed for European flight, high speed, and smooth aerobatics. I'm a fan of the German heli's, and I'd say 3dmp.

Sport flying and fuel cost saving...Bergen. I love my gasser. 7 gallons gas vs 1 gallon nito? And the gasser isn't so thirsty. They may not be the fastest thing doing 3D but I've seen 'em doing most maneuvers.

So for regular type flying, beginner style 3D etc the Bergen is better...but if plan on some hot flying latter on, pick up the 3DNP...

Man this is a hard decision......

I'm told the limiting factor with a gasser is the weight, not the manufacturer. I don't do hard core 3D so I can't tell you the difference. No lack of power, though

I love the german designed 3DNP but parts are not always available in the US. You will have to order from the UK or EU. You can't go wrong with a Bergen. You will always have parts and customer service is A++.

6cuda6, before buying a Bergen, contact me and get some of the cold, hard facts about the company and their policies. After purchasing a Bergen, you want to be very careful not to criticize or disagree with anything they say or you'll be treated like a leper by the owner and his cult-like following. I have no axe to grind with this company but feel obligated to inform other potential buyers what to expect after their purchase.

What people should expect after their purchase is assistance when needed, our recommendations on what we have found to work best with our helicopters when needed, and spare parts when they are needed.

We are easy to contact, whether by phone, e-mail, or internet. If one doesn't work, try another. Somtimes our phones are busy, sometimes e-mails get lost in the netherworld, I don't always check all internet sites. Heck my cellphone is posted around here somewhere

If that is a problem, well, my apologies.

I bought my bergen used. I couldn't pass up the deal, I planned on buying a new one but I stumbled on a great deal. After I purchased my bergen, I figured out that it had a lot of miles on it. I had to fix a few minor things, no big deal. It has a lot of miles on it, it still runs and fly's great! I was a little nervous about calling Bergen for parts because I didn't by the heli new from them. When I called them, they were very pleasent to deal with and helped me out with everything I needed. When I was deciding between two different brands, I emailed Chris Bergen and discussed some items with him. He was very objective and helpful. I am a bug about customer service, I give customer service and I do my damnist (hum never spelled that before) to give the best customer service I can so I expect the same. That was one of reasons I bought the bergen. I also fly Hirobo helicopters. Between Jeff Green at Hirobo and the bergen's, they are by far the best to deal with as far as customer service. I don't ask for much or often, but when I do ask, I have high expectations.

yup......Larry and Chris are the toppest notch guys around when it comes to Customer service. You will only have problems if you dont know how to follow the clear and simple instructions that they provide with every heli that they sell. The manuals are even posted online at bergenrc.com

we all know how top notch miniature aircraft quality is and the bergen crew used to MA parts for them. All those old gold plated parts do look familiar right?
