I have a converted Raptor with a Z50A-600 with 10T I am planning on using 10s 4200 mah. Can annyone reccomend a controller for this and how to go about getting a series y adapter and a parrallel adapter. I have an AF109 so I guess Ill need 2x5s, is it ok to charge 2 packs like that in parrallel. Thanks.

You could use a Castle Creations HV85, Kontronics Jazz 55-10-32 or Schulze Future 32.40k. The CC HV85 is the least expensive and works fine, you might want to buy the Castle link for easier programming of the ESC. The CC HV85 is about $180.00 and the Jazz is $280.00.

There are people that sell "Y" connectors, but its easy to make your own. Buy a package of Deans Ultra "Male" and "Female" and a couple of feet of Black and a couple of Red 12ga. stranded wire from your LHS and then make the "Y" connector like this. Sorry for the drawing, all I had at home to make it with was Excel.

You need to just charge 1 - 5S pack at a time, if you don't have a balancer and you charge Lipo packs without one they will not last. My recommendation would be to buy a TP1010 charger and a TP210 balancer. The balancer will talk to the charger while the packs are charging. If you do buy these two items read the directions on how to plug in the packs to the balancer or you will be sending it back for repair. If you have an Astro 109, then you either have a power supply or use your vehicle as power for it. If you have a power supply like the Astro 120 it will work for the TP1010 charger.

Let me know if I can help.

PS - I bet you didn't know how much it was going to really cost to go electric, did you.

Thanks Stanc
Much appreciated, I could not read the text on the drawing but I assume the two batteries on the top you join + to - then the - from battery A goes to - @ the heli , and the + from battery B goes to + @ the heli , is this correct?
By the way I had a rough idea about the cost of electric , but by the looks and snarls comming from my wifes face plus you know those familliar noises wives make in situations like this ,she may not have been as prepared for it as I was.
Thanks again

Yep sounds good. Make sure to try the adaptor on something other than your heli(like an astro wattmeter or similar) that way if you wire it wrong you won't burn it up. Also it pays to use 2 small nicd packs for the testing, LiPOs are expensive!
