I have heard so many great things about the DX7, but am waiting for a 9ch to come out. Has anyone heard anything? I am ready to put a gov on my Cal and need a 9, so I am waiting patiently.....

What all do you have that you need a 9 in a heli, 7 should be enough, 5 for CCPM, throttle and rudder, one for gyro and one for governor.

It's not just all about channels.

The 9303 has many more features and ammenities than the 7202, such as more mixes, better channel/switch assignment, larger display, etc.

I realize that, I also have a 9ZWC so I'm well aware of what the DX7 lacks, however, he specifically said he needs 9 channels.

ah yeah...

Some folks like to run a dedicated on/off switch on their GV-1s, which require a second channel for the GV control (speed + On/Off). This way, they can set three speeds.

Personally, I use two speed settings, with the third switch pos as off. I also use the Stick Switch function. This way I don't have to flip two switches to practice autos.

So, given that criteria, you need at least an 8ch, of which there is none currently in production, except the RD8000 from AirT. That means moving to a 9ch.

You could very easily run a govenor with a 7ch radio. I did on the Caliber I sold RR member AgentOrange. In fact he is still running it like that. However, I recently setup a Caliber with the DX7 and really liked the radio. There are some things that I wish it had though which hopefully the 9ch Spread Spectrum will have if and when it comes out. A throttle kill switch, dedicated govenor settings(like the 9C Super) and an actual gyro gain page instead of gear atv. I'm sure there are other things other people want, but those right there will get me to buy one. If not, count me out. I'll stick with my 9C

Gee, sorry for asking a question, Erich. I guess I just have only used governors that have been designed in this millennium and only need 1 channel beyond the throttle. The CSM, TJ, and ATG only need 1 channel.

Sorry, I didn't see a question in your statement. I wasn't chastizing you dude. Grow a pair for pete's sake. I was acknowledging your observation about the 9 channel usage, and why HE may have felt a need for them. The way I setup my GVs, I also only use one control channel. Matter of fact, I had a hard time with a couple local guys about using the DX-7 with GV and Gyro cuz they both like using an on/off switch in addition to the 3rd speed select.

Now go roll your eyes to someone else, instead of someone AGREEING with you

I appreciate all the responses, and I would like to have the extra channels. Back to the original question though, has anyone heard if and when they are comming out?

I posted the same question on the JR forum on the other site that Danny from JR answers questions.

His answer was "Stand By and watch for future announcements".

You can read anything into that............

I don't want to stand by and wait for further announcments...LOL

Actually, even if the 9 came out I would probably wait for it to drop in price a bit. Oh wait, this isn't Playstation we're talking about.

I use the switch method and I don't need to flip two switches to practice autos. I have a dedicated switch to turn the gov off and the throttle hold switch also turns it off. either-or. I don't have to flip both of them to turn the gov off.

I too am waiting for the DX9. In my case, I could get away with 7 channels, but I have a Fromco STD Reg with two output leads. I run 6v across the board on my Stratus and I need the extra slot for the reg to plug in to.

The additional mixes are also what I am looking for. I want to get back into planks and the 9 would allow for crow mix nad other thing of that sort.

There are some instances where 8 channels might be needed. Using a 7000T gryo requires 2 channels to set remote gains, there are 2 connections to be pluged in vs the usuall 1 connection.DOUG

Who cares about how Many channels? The 9303 (DX9 we hope) has a much better feel to it than the 7202. Sorry DX7 guys, but the 7202 feels cheap compared to a 9303 or 10X. For me it just comes down to having a higher quality radio. Like the guys that buy 14MZs. You think they need 14 channels?

It's not just about the channels, although if and when I do get into flying scale, it would be nice. As Fromme2u said, I would like a throttle kill switch, dedicated govenor settings, and an actual gyro gain page, all which the DX7 is lacking.
