When in doubt, gas it!

I paid around $350 from Backman-RC-Expert. No motor or esc. I hovered it today for a very short time (27 degress and windy) and believe the 550's I have on it are a bit too big. It had so much ground resonance it flipped on it's side during the 2nd spool down. No damage but looked pretty bad. I think 500's are plenty since it weighs less than 4 lbs with the stock woodies. Hopefully this weekend I can get some good flights on it.....

When in doubt, gas it!

Please let me know how many Mah you use per minute when you get her flying with the 500mm blades.
Very interesting.

If you bling it, they will come :D

Got in another hover today. Much better with the 500's and the 15t pinion. Rock solid and steady. As stable in hover as my Airskipper. Only got about 6-7 mins but I think it was the temp. Still only 30 degrees here. I think the batts took ~1500ma to top out. Hopefully this weekend I'll be able to wring it out.

When in doubt, gas it!

Finally, got a chance to fly today. Sunny and around 55f. Very nice flying heli. Super stable, great rolls and loops. I'm not a 3d maniac yet but I can push it pretty good. I was only able to get 5 mins of flight with the 2x 3s1p 2100 setup. I don't think the motor we have chosen is working efficently. The motor base was 160f, esc 120f, and batts 95f. At 100% throttle the head speed seemed a bit low. No optical tach but seemed like about 1600-1700. Definately not 2000+ I want so I can bang on it hard. The motor I have is a Lepton style 500 motor rated at 850kv and 680watts. I think I need about 1000-1200kv and about 1000watts to liven things up a bit. I think a more powerful motor will yield a bit more flight time cause it won't have to work as hard. Lemme know what yall think....

When in doubt, gas it!

I noticed the ESC is listed as "w/o BEC". Does this mean you will need to buy a seperate BEC?

I am not sure but I think so. Also one of the guys on rcgroups mentioned that the jr servos were prone to failure.

Yup. I just read the discussion on rc groups. They said that servo can freeze in flight. Bummer.

Someone in the rcgroup discussion also mentioned using a Hyperion 5-6V BEC.

Hi all,

That guy was me

Yes, the Hyperion Titan BEC is very nice.
I can see you are not using the stock motor/esc? Why?
The stock Gaui motor is rated better.

I have put on a Z20 motor on mine, and its a very nice flier.
Here´s a video I made on this baby in 25-30 m/s windstorms.

The kit I bought did not have motor or esc. I had the motor I am using already so I thought I'd try it first.

Today was a perfect day here in N. Texas. 62 and sunny. Got in 3 flights. I have 2 new infinity 3s 2200's. With the 14t pinion and around 1700-1800hs I got over 8 mins of flight. Not any hard core 3d, I'm not capable nor are the stock woodies I think, but lots of FFF and loops and rolls, a little inverted hover, lots of 720 stall turns, etc. This thing tracks great, almost like a smaller version of my Airskipper.

At 10 degrees and 100% throttle I was getting 40A draw and 800 watts which is the peak for my motor. I should have the proper motor (one from the kit) in a week or so. Can't wait til then so it will really rip.

Also my ESC has a UBEC already installed and seems to be working fine at 5v. I checked all my DS821's before installation and they seemed fine as well. Mine is the early version so the update kit will be here with the motor.

Anyone see the new edition of RC Heli. I bet we will see a whole lot more of these birds here in the states soon. Check out Backman-rc-expert.com, I think it's $350 including motor and esc.

When in doubt, gas it!

Tom,
Thanks for the video. Excellent flying in that wind storm. Was curious about this heli after seeing it mentioned in this month's RC Heli magazine. Looks like it tracks well. Thanks again for the preview.

Mine showed up today(29th) ordered on 24th from Taiwan amazing postal service to Eastern Canada. Faster from Asia than from within my own country.

System looks good came with the upgraded gears along with the package. Instructions are not the best mostly pictures but the heli is also mostly built so it shouldn't be to difficult.

Hello guys,

I been eyeing this heli for a while and seen a few video of it. But one video impresses me the most is that one in infinity hobby site but didn't show the setup specs. So Ive been thinking if I get one I have to thinker with it myself. But I got a question though, are any of you guys know what module/pitch the pinion is? And is it posible to use motor higher than 1000kv. I do have Z20 and 2826 Axi.

Put a Trex 600L 1620kv on the other day. Max amp draw was 83a and 1300 watts with the stock 14t pinion and Mikado 500 carbons. Changing the front gear from 42 to 66 is a must for this motor. My update kit is on the way so once it arrives I will change the gearing and test it again.

BTW, after 10 flights the stock brass pinion is shot....

When in doubt, gas it!
