I have converted my XeroG back to the Box gearing from a direct drive setup, mainly for pack installation and GCing. Previously I had a Z50-600 motor with a 9T/95T and was running15S A123 packs and had it dialed down so the HS was around 2200, this bird had extremely good punch. The boxed arrangement has an 15T/95T and 10S1P EVO20 3700 packs dialed down to 95% for a HS of just under 2200. This arrangement has more punch that the previous setup, unbelievable power.

Next is to stretch it to 690mm blades and use 10S1P EVO20 5000 mah packs for the extra disk size.

Do you realize how nervous I get when I race Ron Lund and rightfully so since he was the Drag Race King for a long time. You could multiply that by a whole lot if I were racing you. I'm going to have to do a lot of practicing before I could ever really compete. A quick heli doesn't mean a whole lot if you can get it off the line and fly it straight and low. I have a good run about 1 out of 5, lots more practice but maybe one day.

I here rumblings on another site that you might have some competition at IRCHA this year, probably just talk since it was directed to Xero G himself. He doesn't seem to pull many punches in his replies on different topics (A123 Cells) in particular.

Your XeroG isn't stretched to 700mm, is it? I would think leaving at 600 would be better for racing, (YES/NO).

Stanc:

I am only direct and "pull no punches" when it comes to persons using their non-scientific opinions and market influence to sell whatever seems to be popular (fruit of the month).

We Beta tested the cells in question early last year and found that though they could deliver the current and voltage, the form was lacking as it requires more of them which just makes the installation into our airframes unrealistic ie. Titan EP.

In addition the concept that these cells are affordable is additionaly misleading, the limited capacity against todays standard lipo packs of 4000-5000 makes cost of these cells comparable to lipos if you are to match the flight times by going with a 2p configuration.

That all being said, these cells and their technology are definately a sign of great things to come, it will be intersting to see if they show up at IRCHA in 2007?

Our advice for now is to leave your powertools intact on the workbench, where they belong

Stanc on another note:

Did you ever have a chance to run a NEU 1515-2Y? I would be intersted to know if you think your new combo has more power?

For those who would like to modify any of your Raptor based machines to a 700 class, XeroG has a long boom, belt, and carbon PP rod combo available at advantagehobby.com. With this set you can run 710 blades and a 105 tail blades, make sure you run hard dampers and metal grips.

What about the 3mm fly bar? A lot of the guys say that the 3mm fly bar can't handle the larger disks. I got an EVO FFZ III head from Albig for the 4mm fly bar. I must have overlooked the stretch parts on advantagehobby.com site, thanks for the info.

No I haven't used the 1515-2Y, I had this motor and wanted to see how it would work. The only Neu motor I have had is a 1912-1.5Y and it runs hot. I should send it back to Steve and get the fan installed.

I pretty much agree with you on the A123 cells, they are however a cheap alternative to LiPos for those who don't mind 5 minute flight durations and there are apparently several who don't.

I hope you didn't take what I said about you not pulling many punches the wrong way.

hey it's not just the flybar. i was more worried about running a 690mm blade on a 6mm spindle. even the logo 10 uses a 8mm spindle.
you'll like the evo rotorhead! it worked great when i had it on it.
the only problem i had came from the belt, but i think that was because the grub screw in the tail hub wouldn't stay tight.
and i use a logo hardened main shaft that was cut down and drilled,
but ended up being too thin walled.

The XeroG is now stretched to a 700EP, Hirobo EVO head assembly and 690 V-Blades. Now all that is needed is a tail control rod and some 105 tail blades and for the DAMN RAIN to go away, maybe some break Sunday.
When setting up the pitch I found that I could get as much as +/- 14°, I left it at 11°. Should be interesting to see how this motor fairs in a 90 size bird.

AUW 9lbs. 3oz.

Hey Stan,

Sorry, I was out of the loop for a while.

You are correct, from all the testing I have done so far, the 600mm blades are "quicker" than the long ones, but I have not given up on a 700mm or 710mm blade machine.

I have a stretched XeroG with 700's on it, but so far it is consistently about.2 seconds behind my 600mm machine, almost EVERY TIME.

If you can get a good run, 1 out of 5, you are really close to having it nailed down.

When I look back through my test data, my very best runs are only about 3 out of 5. The trick is to get the other 2 close to the 3 good ones.

If you need some help with setup, PM me, I can send you my exact settings. Looks like you went to a Spectrum, so did I!

Yes, I've been using a DX6 in my 6102 for almost as long as the DX6 has been out. I bought the DX7 but only two helis have the AR7000 RX, the others have the AR6000. The XeroG and the Raptor conversion have a AR6000. I can tell a little difference between the two RX and rightfully so.

I'm going to look for a 1515 2Y and have another transmission setup so I can switch back and forth, I want to see how much difference there is between what I'm using and the Neu motor. Almost don't want to get a used one in case its been abused in some way, that would cloud the testing. But damn a new one is $280. I can use 12S Lipo with it where 10S is the max on the Z50A-800. Have you ever run a 12S configuration?

Wow that is very light for a 700mm machine

I also am using the Dx7 in my 600 Zero g

Ya I know, I even checked the battery in my digital fish scale to make sure it was right. Checked my eRaptor knowing what it weighs and it read the same weight as before, so I guess its right. That's actually 1 lb. more than it weighed with the TT head and 600 blades, so the difference is in the 690s, the head and a few inches longer boom. With any luck I'll get to see how it flies tomorrow. I'm going to get one of the better pilots to fly it the second flight, so I can get a video of it.

Correct on the AUW, the machine actually weighs 10lbs. 14oz. Here are a couple of videos I took with my digital camera, but the batteries went dead before the end of the flight.
