Couldn't see any spec's for the unit in the first link. What's the max range it'll work to ? Also noted it's AC only.

The unit in the 2nd link could be workable.

Update

Have had a play with various resistors of different values up to 2m5 at the moment. Range of the unit has increased to 12ft

Am waiting on a 5m resistor, on back order, so hoping this will increase the range some more. Assuming it does I'll test it with the heli and let you know the outcome

I know Mike Goza writes for MHT magazine. Perhaps his design would make a good construction article for the magazine. Getting small quantities of PCBs made these days is a lot cheaper than it used to be. Perhaps someone could talk Mike into sharing his design via MHT.

Update

I've fitted the 5m resistor, but this hasn't increased the range above about 12ft

So I've mounted the unit in an old plastic tub and am going to test it with a Heli over the weekend

I'll post here with the results.
