I'm building an hdx300 and was wondering what people are using for a canopy on them.

The blade cp and honeybee will fit. I went with the hb on mine...more room down low for the batteries...

I went with the Blade CP canopy. I mounted my battery in the upper position. This keeps the mass of the heli closer to its center of rotation. Makes for faster and crisper rolls and flips. The wider nose of the Blade canopy versus that of the HoneyBee gave me a better fit. Check out the photos in my gallery. I also have the V2 head on my HDX300. I'm quite pleased with its performance.

How do you fit the MX400 canopy on. I thought that I had seen in a post that people had used the TRex canopy which seems to be much larger. Similary I would think that the MX400 would be the same size.

Sort of like this http://users.adelphia.net/~mstatig/hdxtop.jpg and looks like http://users.adelphia.net/~mstatig/hdxside.jpg

The images are large so you can see them in detail file size is as small as i could get them while maintaining quality.

I like to use T-REX canopies cut down to size. The plastic is thicker and stronger than the Blade cp canopy. If you use a brushless motor the slight increase in weight doesn't seem to matter much.

I used one of the Walkera clear canopies it fit with only a little triming. I will post later today.

This is what i used on my hdx300 before i freaked out and sold it. I used a Walkera 22E canopy and made a mount for the carbon rod out of sheet metal.

Wouldnt that be nice! I'd get one right now if he had it for a 300 size heli. I tried the ones for the TREX450 at the store, and they're just a little too big to use. =(

do you think it's a bit too heavy for the little bird?

My concern was that it was going to generate way too much drag. The nose sticks out almost as much as the main blade! You need something skinnier for a 300 size. I dont think its weight so much as blocking the down draft.

Check out my gallery for the green canopy that I currently use on my HDX300. Purchased from HeliDirect, it appears to be out of stock or unavailable. Too bad. Steve, what's the story on these canopies? Will they be available again in the future?

I think the honey bee Cp2 canopy is best choice. It is very sharp at the front, taking all the drag away.

Gerry,

Before we use those walkera 22E canopy to paint. Now we try to get other types of canopies. Should be back in stock next month.
