Computer Flight Simulators > G2 Controller Troubles.

I am running G2 on a basic PIII 800 machine with on board grafics (NVidia TNT) and sound. I had to lower the video complexity a little to overcome some blue screen errors but everything has been just fine for the last four months. This weekend I loaded MS FSim 2000 and installed a Sidewinder Pro Joy stick. That worked fine (all this software reloading is from a puter crash about four months ago). Last night I swapped the Joy stick to the GP dummy controller box to fly some G2. But the puter won't recognize the controller. Heli crashes on startup over and over, and controller calibration shows no input signals.

I restarted and did a hard boot and the machine strill won't recognize the G2 Controller??

Any ideas??

G-2 Troubles??

I just replied to another post about the same thing. Since I downloaded the latest ver. (386) I'm having a lot of problems as well, I must restart and recalibrate the TX several times before it will recognize it.

The other fellow said he went back to an earlier ver. and everything was back to normal-maybe I'll try that as well. ----------BladeRunner.

BTW, I'm running this on a P-4. 1.3 gig, 384 MB Ram, Nvidia TNT Pro 2 32 megs. UNFORTUNATELY I'm also using M.E. for an operating system P.O.S. That, I'm sure is 90% of my problems.------------BladeRunner.

Hey Blade?? Where are you at? I am coming to Toronto (actually Markham) maybe later this week for business. I come up there all the time (summer is nice) and would like to have a spot to fly for some of the longer trips...

Thanks

Where??

I'm about an hr. West of Markham near Barrie. The newest heli club is the Toronto R/C Helicopter Club, they have a field across from Markham fairgrounds.

Lots of excellent flyers in the club. . I've been to their fun-flys and they know how to do it right. One of the members has a web site, bob00 on here, sorry I don't have the link, check his profile in the members list to find it.

You know, when our friends from the US come up to visit it's allways a treat, the best part for you guys is; if you see something on sale for 50% off, with our dollar the way it is you pretty much are getting it FREE!! hehehe----------BladeRunner.

Don't know whether you're running Win 98, XP, or Win 2000 but just wanted to offer a word of caution. In Win 2000, if you upload the latest service pack upgrade from Microsoft, it wipes out your computer's ability to recognize the controller device. At least this is what happened to me about three months ago. Hopefully Microsoft has worked out the bug. I've been reluctant to try another download cuz I spent hours trying to get the friggin thing to work after I got a wild hair to upgrade my PC from Win 98 to Win 2000. Good luck with the laptop!

Re the Laptop

This is getting to be a real saga. First I ordered the EXP - PCMCIA gameport, but that is NOT compatable with Win 2000. I am trying to send it back for a refund. Second shot is the SimBlaster - a RC radio trainer cord to game port adapter with a USB interface. And several people say it works with RF and FMS, and Win 2000.... Hope so - it will be here Friday.

Good luck with the SimBlaster. Let us know if it works. I would love to take G2 mobile!

Mike, why don't you just get the RF interface that plugs into the parallel port? Or don't you want to use a real TX?

I thought you could not buy one...???
Can I get one even if I have the software with the dummy controller?
