Hi,

Does the Duzi Axi set fit the X3D ok ?

Also with that if I used the Duzi head am I right in saying I need to use a Hornet II main shaft ?

Chers

I have a Hornet II and just switched to the X series frame - The Duzi Axi-Set does fit fine but not like the directions show for the H2 - I had to turn the motor mount around 180° and align it on the 'float' - Since you have to 'float' the alignment anyways you can place the mount to mesh the pinion at either the front or rear of the main gear in working out a balance (CG) -

I think I remember a previous discussion about the main shaft and I think it just needs different size shimming between the frame and Duzi gear - Not sure though.

I found this pic not sure if he is using a HII main shaft though ?

Hmm - I think the main shaft length issue is when using the Duzi shaft with the new X main gear/one-way - I don't think the issue exists using the Duzi main shaft with the Duzi main gear.

I've put my axi main gear into my X3D frame but have yet to put the axi motor mount onto E702

The angle of the axi gear is slanted downards so won't the pinion not ride on the gear properley as E702 is level not slanted like the upper frame E601 ?

Put your tail boom support under the lower frame instead of on top of it - Sandwich it between the lower frame and landing legs instead of the lower and upper frames.

Captain Chaos

Do you have a picture of how you have mounted your axi motor mount onto E702

Did you cut off one of the centre braces from E702 ?

Thanks

Yeah I cut off a spar on the frame - I put a 12t pinion on the motor and assembled the Duzi mount with the mesh adjustment centered then set the whole motor and mount assembly on the lower frame and meshed the pinion to the Duzi main gear then marked and drilled it -

Sorry no pics as my only camera is too lame to show anything but a blur for detail.

I forgot about this old web cam with adjustable focus I had laying around -
And managed to get FastPhoto working now too -

As I mentioned before you can position the setup to mesh the pinion with either the front or rear of the Duzi main gear to suit the balance (CG).

Thankyou very much Captain Chaos.

I got mine all fitted then moved on to fitting the Duzi servo mounts and the Duzi swash and Anti rotation guide as per the instructions. 20.5mm fro the front mount and 18mm for the rear mount.

When they are fitted like this the arms go up to the swash at an angle, why do they say these mesurements ?

I had the servo arms postioned so the links would be 90deg onto the arms, but the swash is nearly at the top of the anti rotation guide, don't get it ?

Are you using the Duzi servo links too? If not that might be the reason the servo links are angled as I think the measurements assume using the raced servo links -

Are the servos mounted with the pivots up or down?

Maybe a pic of the setup thus far would be easier to diagnose.

I'm not a fan of the Duzi servo mounts anymore and in the process of going back to a tray myself.

Yes.

Do you mean are the servo arms mounted towards the top of the heli ? if so yes they are at the top.

Try and get a pic.

Hi,

I had a half built Hornet II so I thought I would fix up the Duzi bits to that but you still get the same problem.

I have mounted the servo mounts as per the Duzi instructions. As you can see in the pictures the arms are not level with the main shaft.

I have the swash guide mounted the wrong way so there is more travel in the guide. The pictures show the swash postion as though it would centre stick at 0deg yet the swash is more than half way up the guide. If you went full negative and forward elevator the swash will bind at the top of the swash guide.

Not the best pics but you get the idea.

Am I doing something wrong

Yeah it looks like the measurements were off for you - I think I wasn't trusting of their measurements myself and marked my own -

For the swash A/R guide - I took mine apart and flipped the clamp part over and reattached the guide - This raises the guide a little for better centering so the swash A/R arm won't top-out in it.

That's interesting - Your clamp bolt is on the opposite side from mine - But you're right - Looking closer you do have it flipped like I do.

Do you think the servo arms should be horizontal at 0deg and not at the angle they show them on the manualthat comes with the servo links ?

Ideally I think the servo arms should be 90° to the linkages - But it's so hard to eyeball at those angles - Plus the way I last had them mounted I had to raise the rear servo mount from contacting with the crown gear and I don't think the Duzi links were short enough after that so I ended up just putting the arms 90° to the servos and had a horribly non-orthogonal setup - I've given up on the Duzi mounts and going back to a plate - I guess you wouldn't have that problem though with them mounted in the original configuration.

Hi,

Sent an email to Duzi so I will see what they recommend. I like using the mounts as it saves doing all the alignment buy eye and having to use tape.
