| Do a search in this forum and you'll find that a brass one exists but doesn't ship outside Germany or something and it is expensive. More importantly there is no real advantage to using a metal conical as in a crash with a stalled tail you are guaranteed to trash the main gear crown which you might find easier to change, twice the price for one. Take your pick.
Avoid tail snagging with the power down. Sometimes after a moderate crash shock the conical can break loose (as can happen with the main blade grip thread locked head bolts) but doesn't show up until under load stress next flight, possibly causing loss of tail control. Basically if you shock the drive with a hard landing, as a precaution, presume that it could fail soon and inspect / test it aggressively. |
