I am the proud new owner of a Hornet CP kit (not the CP conversion). I was suprised to find that this kit is 90 degree ccpm (servos at front, back, and left). I was under the impression that the CP version was 120 degree ccpm.

Anyway, my question is "How do I set up my 8U Super transmitter?"

If I use SWH4, the second elevator channel comes out on CH8. I am only using a 6 channel receiver.

Is SWH4 the right swashplate setting?

If so, what is the best way to get channel 8 mixed over to another channel?

Thanks very much,
Greg

Go to the Futaba website.

Greg,
Go to the Futaba website. They have some examples on there of how to mix channels. Not exactly what you are looking for, but a little thinking and you will see how to do it I am sure.
Also try and pick up Don Edbergs book if you can. Invaluable piece of literature for any Super or non Super 8 owner.

Odd

That's pretty odd. I bought the upgrade kit and it came with a 120 degree swashplate. I've since bought an aluminum swashplate and still have the plastic stock swashplate sitting around, if you'd like it email or PM me.

Take care,
Joe

Fitenfyr:
I do have Don Edbergs book. You really need it to understand anything about PMIXes. The little block diagrams help a lot, especially when more than 1 mixer is active for a channel.

However, for CCPM he did not provide any "little diagrams". You are left to guess as to where the CCPM mixing is accomplished, and how having LINK ON or LINK OFF interacts with the CCPM mixers.

When I finish building, I will just have to do a bit of trial and error to figure out how to replace CH6 with CH8.

Joboo:
Thanks for the offer. But for the moment I am going to take a shot at making my current swash work. Failing that, I will probably buy a metal swash myself. I hear it is a worthwhile upgrade.

Thanks again,
Greg

I agree

The metal swashplate is nice. Mostly because it already has a center ball which will get rid of alot of slop. If you do get a metal swashplate I recommend the one sold by Dennis at DeeTee Enterprises designed by Walt Ferar. The stock swashplate can also be moded with a center ball relatively cheap and perform well after disassembling them and JB welding them back together. Also Check out this link for additional help if you haven't already.

Odd?? well not really

I figured out what was going on with my hornet. I got a fixed pitch kit!

I was faked out by the instructions. They show three servos going to the swashplate. That's enough for collective pitch.

When I started building the head, I realized I did not have independent blade grips.

Now I can look at the instructions and immediately see that it is fixed pitch. But yesterday it was not obvious at all.

Sean at Helihobby is going to fix me up with a no charge CP upgrade. That's cool.

Now lets figure out 120 degree ccpm....

Backwards pitch curve?

Rather than run an inverted pitch curve why not just adjust the pitch value from + to - in the Swashplate ARF menu E.G. Pitch +50% becomes Pitch -50%. Then you'll have a normal pitch curve.

Take care,
Joe

Thanks for the radio advice guys. Can't wait to get this little bugger up in the air.

My wife got it for me because she was tired of hearing me bitch about driving 45 minutes one way to the field and finding out that I couldn't fly because of:

A. Planker pylon racing (or similar plane events)
B. NASCAR promotions
C. Christmas toy drives
D. Boy Scout Jamborees
...
..
.

I have a basketball court 2 minutes away scoped out for the Hornet.
