Tandem Rotor Helis Vertol Chinook > full scale chinook at our flying field(with photos in gallery)

On sunday a full scale chinook from selfridge airbase landed at our local flying field.

It was really neat. We were able to walk through it and sit in the cockpit.

This particular chinook was actually in iraq and was back for repairs. It was shot up pretty good in the center fuselage and the blades had numerous bullet holes in them. Of course it was repaired prior to landing at our field. The pilots were the actual ones that flew it in iraq.

It was really nice for the guys from the selfridge airbase here in michigan to do this for us!! They also really educated us on the machines capabilities and what it was like in combat.

I took many many detailed pictures and even a couple videos of it taking off. When they took off, they rotated it 360 degrees going straight up then did about a 100 foot pass over our heads followed by a hard bank turn. It was amazing to see and when they took off it was difficult to stay standing from the wash of the blades.

Just wanted to share

Put 'em in your gallery please. I'd like to see them also as I'm working on a 1/35th scale e-power Chinook using two Gaui 3 bladed heads and MS ModelSport electronics.

for you ch-47 crewchiefs aside from being the most expensive hookers in the fleet why are all of you so cocky? you crew on a bird that in my opinion (or atleast my unit) seem to be the hanger queens

They are cocky because they can be. Every crewchief is proud of his bird because he puts his blood and sweat into it. Aircraft have a lot of moving parts so when it all works like it should you can't slap the smile off the proud crewchiefs' face

For someone that is so critcal of others you probably ought to know that it's "HANGAR" not "HANGER"
