Hi Stinger Fans!

Has anyone tried the new open box tail for the 50?

Looks like it would be allot easier for maintenance etc.

Thanks guys !.....

I am calling David today to order one!

I think they look but was thinking that you could easily spot any problems with bearings etc. unlike the black plastic one.

was also wondering about that beef'd up tail rotor assembly....
Has anyone had problems with 'Flyn' tail rotor blades with the stock setup?

Thanks..

I have heard of 1 person that had a grip let go.
One is not an epidemic in my book.
Normal RPM on the tail is 8,800 at 2000 head speed, I have run my tail with the 2 bearing grip up to 12,000 RPM with no failure. (I do NOT recommend trying this.)
The new grip is mainly for increased precision and allows the tail to work better at higher speeds.
I will be testing the new tail rotor this weekend also.

Jeff......

Will be interested to hear your comments on both of these upgrade items after you've flown them. I talked to David this morning and ordered both of them...it seems like a good idea especially if you are running the tail speed up gear.

Let us know how it goes Jeff...

Thanks...

I finished installing the new tail case and tail rotor assembly last night. Everything went together with no issues.
Weather looks to be great for this weekend and some testing.

I LIKE IT!

I was surprised to find that with the reduced amount of flex from the tail grips I had to turn down the gain on my 401 by 6% and I still need need to turn it down another couple of %.
The tail has a much more locked in feel to it than it had before, not that it was bad before. The max piro rate is noticably faster.
I am and was running the Tail Speed up gear.

Wow.....FF

I wasn't expecting all of those benefits....
I bought the open tail box and the beefed up tail assembly for added structural integrity...wasn't really thinking about flight characteristics.

Jeff...thanks for the debriefing on your experiences with the completely new tail setup! Can't wait to get mine installed...

Oh...by the way ...what tail blades are you flyn' with ?

I am using the 92mm Carbon Gohbee tail blades.

I hope that I will not be giving a crashworthiness report of these new parts any time soon.
