Hi Guys,

The parkmite is now $250 at Horizon. I could not resist, so I ordered one.

JR Parkmite

I finished my second Parkmite about three weeks ago. My fist uses the two optional kits available from JR. I get 5~6 mins of hovering and it feels underpowered.

For the upgrade I went for
Park 400 brushless Motor 4200 KV
Castle Creations Phoenix 25 ESC
Futaba 401 Gyro. some say this is too heavy but with the amount of power I now have it is no problem and holds the tail rock solid.
Futaba S3154 tail servo
3x Hitec HS-56HB on cyclics
I am using Thunder Power 1320 Lipo and gives 20mins of flying

The Parkmite likes a lot of head speed, I have tacho'd mine at 2000, I would be interested in knowing what anyone else is getting?

With the original setup I have to say I was a little disappointed, with the upgraded setup I am really pleased with how smooth it is to fly. I fly a raptor 50 when I can but the weather has been so windy I wanted something I could fly indoors or in the back garden without destroying the lawn.

slow,
Thanks for the tips. I got one on sale as well. could not resist. looking for the same thing, reliable heli for backyard flying. So I take it you like that motor alot more? Any 3D?
I am thinking I will try my pre existing G90 gyro I have, see how that is, if not I will pop my 401 on it and upgrade my synergy to the 611.
I think I will buy the 400 size motor like you did right from the get go, I take it that it puts our more power, I dont understand the 370 to 400, I thought that was just the can size?

thanks. post some pics or video. !

Guys, I got mine built and flying, it is good, can not believe it is such a good small heli. Only the canopy definitely can be improved. I know there is a scale fuselage coming soon, but it looks over 120 USD..... Does anyone knows if I can fit other canopy on it? I am looking for something like TRex or Raptor.

I heard from a LHS that Parkmite is being discontinued here in the US that is why they are having the kits on sale. Parts will be supported for another 3 years though. Can anyone confirm or dismiss this?

I have no idea. in someways I would not doubt it. with its price it just did not catch on. If the price was lower it would have had a chance.
who knows, if they see it turn around they may keep it coming in.

Tony,
You have good luck with the P10 speed control?

No problems with the Phoenix 10 in two Parkmites. And I'm using the Park 400 4200 kV motor. I do set it to 6-volts for the low voltage warning and I disable the current sensitivity. Also make sure it is set to soft cut-off.

I just put a 12-tooth pinion on one to try. It does like a lot of headspeed.

Would a 400DH motor fit on the parkmite? Looking for something to fly in the backyard.

I've got some indoor flights with the Park 400 4200 kV Inrunner motor using a 12-tooth pinion. This looks like the ticket! I haven't tached it yet, but the headspeed is definitely higher. The power is great and the cyclic rates are better. Flips and rolls are faster.

I'm hoping to get some good quality video soon. I'll post as soon as I have something. I've got a little bit now but the quality is poor.

I'm not familiar with the DH motor. Did you mean the DF? If so, that's more of a T-Rex motor then a Parkmite.

Nap_tan,

it is good, I am very happy with it, it definitely is an excellent heli. Can't ask more from the Japanese, only two crashes so far, as my first heli, I think I am doing ok. But the crashes looks terrible, it takes the tail boom and blades for sure

Could someone tell what the boom diameter is? Also, is everyone still enjoying their parkmite? I'm thinking of getting one now that the price has come down. Thanks,

I dont have a caliper handy so I couldn't measure the boom diameter. But it is slightly bigger than T-Rex 450 boom.

I just maidened mine this past weekend. The drivetrain is suprisingly quiet. cyclic is a bit touchy, but got a lot better when I squeezed the links to losen them up a little. Running the following equipment:

Futaba 3114 servos on cyclic, 3154 on tail
Futaba 156 micro rx
Futaba GY401 gyro
Hacker B20-22s motor w/ 11T pinion
Schulze 11.20 ESC
TP 3s-1320 lipo

I can feel this setup is a bit on the heavy side. The heli seems to carry a lot of momentum when its heavy like this, making it harder to handle. In my past experience with Hornet, every gram you lose will result in noticable performance gain. So I have ordered smaller gyro, ESC, and lipos. I know 1320 is way overkill when it draws 4 amps at hover, but it's all I have at the time. I will give 3s-730 a try.

BTW my buddy tached it with MA optical tach at around 3400RPM. It's pretty happy at this speed. Somebody posted 2000 in an earlier post. You might want to bump that up a bit. Even the bigger T-Rex 450 likes 2000+ headspeed better.

Overall I am very happy with this heli. Very well made.

Some photos for size comparison. Bottom up: T-Rex 450, Blade CP Pro, Parkmite, and mini-zoom (that is another cool little heli).

Thanks for the reply. I ordered a park 400 4200 kv motor for it. I hope it's not too heavy. I thought about the hacker, but It cost a lot more. I too have 1320 pro lite batteries. I'm sure smaller batts would be a benefit. I remember when I got my first hornet. It had these heavy 8 cell nimh cells.

I think the logictech 2100t might be a good gyro for this ship. I think it only weighs 10 grams.

Also, thanks for letting me know about the boom. I just needed to know if trex tail servo boom mounts would fit. Looks like they will.
