| FYI. Inside an optocoupler is a an infrared LED and a phototransistor. Signals (from your rx) are input to the IR LED which in turn transfers the info, via IR light, to the phototransistor which then controls the ESC. Since there's no direct electrical connection between the two, there's no way for electrical interference to pass from the ESC to the rx and also no way of sending electrical power to the rx, hence the neccessity for a separate power source, either a separate battery pack or BEC.
