| Don, your comments about the XLV motor set-up worry me!
I had a metawork company make my motor mount and adaptor at great cost. I don't have access to a lathe, so I cannot continually upgrade and change my motor set-up. If what I am using will not last (or eventually damage the motor bearings) then I have to think about it's future. Maybe I am stuck with future problems too big for me, maybe I have bit off more than I can chew!
I will use my XLV for a while and re-assess how it goes, whether to spend even more money on the setup or (sniff) sell!

don’t worry hazchem88
your mount and adaptor looks good, should be possible to fit another larger bearing above the one in the lower bearing plate without modifying the adaptor I think
the adaptor I first made lasted about 6 hours in flight before some very small play can be seen, and the easy fix for this is just to add an thicker bearing plate to the bottom, look at Dons pics in your build thread fitting a second bearing to cope with the forces, and of cause carefully balance the assembly as good as you can, this should make things run smooth so the adaptor don’t get damaged in the first place
the bearing at the back of the Actro is a large one made to last with the forces of an 18inch propeller @ 10000 rpm sitting at the front without a front bearing, flown maybe in hard 3d maneuvers and it still holds up in that case
the rubber things that Don fitted to he’s motor mount can smooth things out even more though, and as I’m going to rebuild the mount this winter I may use he’s design to cope with the increased forces when the scale fuse is mounted
My xlv conversion is still in development and when I find out new things that can be improved or not go as planed I try to be quick to get the info out on the forums ASAP
by the way, Don good job on improving the motor mount
