| I find it Key to be able to do this for 3d: Learn how to catch the heli in all "falling orientations" by this I mean learning how to catch the heli in a tail slide, nose down, knife edge tail to the right, knife edge tail to the left. Learn how to do all of these with both the rotor head facing towards you, and do this with the skids facing you. This all being after you have learned the basics and can fly figure 8's upright and forward, upright and backward, inverted forward, and inverted backward, along with tic tocs, rolls, flips, piro flips, etc etc. Then you can get into 4 point tic tocs, piroing tic tocs, then piroing 4 point tic tocs. The orientation of the tail and knowing how to catch the heli is the most important aspect of 3d and hard 3d flying. The people who can do this well are the most entertaining to watch. Thats what I gather after doing this 10 months.
