Sounds like common sense to me

Wht the requirement to have flown a helicopter cabable of advanced aerobatics? Surely most turbines are operated by scale fliers who may have little interest in aerobatics?

Yup, that's what I said! But if you are interested only in scale, it is entirely possible not to have flown an aerobatically-capable helicopter. Just being pedantic, I know, but as someone more interested in scale than aerobatics, I was curious. Not going to affect me, anyway, the AMA doesn't have any jurisdiction here and I daren't even dream of a turbine!

If you read the other documents, you will see that you have to demonstrate your flying ability.

The manoeuvres listed by the AMA are only a recommendation, so the particular CDs you demonstrate to may not require them all, they will not be satisfied with just a couple of minutes of hovering.

I imagine autos and nose in manouvers etc... might just be a new exp. for a few scale pilots with lots of dough and interest but with little flight exp. I think it will make some pilots a whole lot better in the end, money dosent buy flight exp. Anybody can fly a scaler if they can just hover and do FF. The other manouvers are extra effort.

GRRRRRRR

I wrote a long diatribe venting my frustration over this topic, but decided to delete it. I have my waiver and thats what counts.

My biggest grouse is not with the AMA, but with IRCHA. They had absolutely NO say in the turbine heli scenario, in fact Ron Kummer didn't even know it was happening. This is partly why you have such a botched up set of requirements for the waiver. The AMA was getting advice from people who didn't know what they were talking about! IRCHA SMIRCHA!
