e-Lite Machines Corona > 8 Cell Packs sizes

Hello...

I am going to be building a Corona this winter and want to use the JR VE skids with the 8 cell sub C pack slung under vs inside the body. In looking at the battery packs there is a slight (very slight) size difference between the 8 cells side by side (7.1" x 1.9" x .98" ) as opposed to two rows of four cells (7" x 1.84" x .94" ).

Does Size Really Matter with the JE VE skids?

tnx

I have fitted both types of pack in the clips on that gear and they fit OK. The only problem you may encounter is that the pack is located too far aft, so you will have to take steps to get the correct CG. I cut those battery clips off, fitted a ply plate which extends further forward and now use Velcro and bands to secure the pack.

I had the VE landing gear on a Corona before and I broke two sets in crashes. Now I have a set of what I think are Logo 10 gear and like them more. Since you have to change the battery mount for the VE gear anyway, might as well get better landing gear (again this is only in my opinion since most people use the VE gear). Yes they're heavier but I have yet to come close to hurting them even with free falls from 75 feet. I bought the Corona to be indestructible and I think the only thing I can do now to improve it is to upgrade the tail gearbox. It's an awesome heli.

Thanks for the input on the battery pack and landing gear. I am currently assembling my Corona and it looks like it will be a fun project. I too want something that will be fun to fly (not 3D) and yet be easy to repair when I crash.

tnx agn

I fly a corona 120 with 8 and 7 cells packs

I use the VE gear and cut off the battery tabs. I used a 1/8 peice of kydex (sp) and use two straps to strap the batteries in. It is quick and easy to remove and install. I fly it as hard a fixed pitch will allow and have never lost any batteries...

I just screwed the kydex to the gear using short screws and zip tie the gear on like everyone else. I have broke the gear and not the zip ties.

I might try the logo 10 gear the next time. But it is just to easy to go to the local hobby shop and pick the JR parts up.
