Bergen R/C Helicopters > Bergen Intrepid Review

Wow, I wasn't expecting a Bergen canopy debut on my thread. Cool! Anyways, I'm off to go get some parts for my Bergen, oh and by the way we got a lot of parts at Zooms too! At our field, I'm starting to see the number of Bergens growing! Maybe its come time for reckoning that you can have a all metal well proven helicopter that crashes almost as cheap as a Raptor 30, eh? I'm helping Mike Smith paint a new canopy so I can have one for the Vegas fun fly. My old canopy got a little chipped up from the mishap on New Years day. Take Care.

Stellar!

I have nothing but great things to say about the performance, support, and people that make, this line of helicopters. If I had to sum it all up in one word, it would be, Stellar!

Great line of Helis

I have had an Intrepid 60 size 4 stroke for a while - it has been one solid, predictable, and powerful machine, with great handling characteristics.

Also, Larry and Chris are really great people to deal with.

Coleopter,
I am using LightWave 3D for all my modeling and rendering and Jasc Paint Shop Pro for the trim sceme design and page layout. 3D rendering and animation is my winter hobby. I thought I would put that hobby to use for this hobby. It has been a fun project. It is even more fun to see this canopy taking shape in the real world. My arms are completely wore out from sanding, but I'm almost through with that part.

Thank you all for the compliments, I'm glad everyone seems to like the canopy.

Me and Mike are currently trying out some new canopy ideas for the Intrepid 60 and 3D. I too think that a good looking fresh new canopy will help to wake people up to Bergens. It's not that Bergens are bad and that is why they are so rare, it is just that they are still a secret and hidden.

Is there an aftermarket canopy which would fit the Bergen .46? Liks would be great!

Canopy Update...

OK, the first molds are completed and I should have a first canopy out of the molds by Wednesday. So far everything is still on scedule. The first molds are a light duty mold that I did to turn out a couple of canopies for test fitting and prototyping purposes. After I do a bit of tweeking and testing on the prototypes, I will be making a more permanent mold (still looking at the end of February for the production molds to be finished).

The design looks great and exactly as intended so far,

Quick ?

Just out of curiosity I was at the local hobby Shop in Battle Creek (R/C Motorsports). I was talking with Tim and Danny owners of the store and they were working on a mold for the Bergen gasser is that the same Canopy that you are going to try to make. that looked pretty cool definetly a different look . Cant wait to see th finished product. Tim and Dan seem to know what they are doing with all that mold making stuff it looked pretty good. Good luck

That was my plug they were working on, they finished it Sunday. Tim and Dan were helping me with my first mold. They are a great bunch up there. The first canopy came out of that mold last night. It fits the bird perfectly and looks great.

On to making new canopy mounts and paint.
