Can anyone comment on this highly upgraded Voyager E on Ebay? It looks pretty highly modded but I'm not familiar with the Astro Motor. Any input?

is it 3D capable or is it just for cruising? It sure does have a lot of bling!

My VE was similar (has the Hacker C40-8L and the stretch mod with 470mm blades) and was capable of limited 3D. The Hacker has a lot more grunt than the Astro

Do you guys think the Voyager E (this one in particular) is a good and stable platform for aerial photography? If I got this bird, I would put in a Hacker C40 12T which has a slightly higher KV rating (3500 kv vs 3300 kv) than the Astro and hopefully a higher headspeed.

Would go with the Hacker for AP work.

I'm considering selling my blinged out VE With Hacker motor andgear for $600 plus it already has a cmaera mount on it. With the one I have you would even get the alloy mixing arms and washout assembly. Other that that they look the same. Check my gallery for some photos.

My Voyager E

I have reciently tried to upgrade my VE to a LiPoly Battery with a new motor and control.. I think that the Motor is a 30KV and unfortunatly my head speed is much too slow. We had a problem with the gear penion fitting our new motor as well so we drilled it.

2 things, where and what gear penion should I use (pitch) and what motor should I use when switching to LiPoly?

Thanks.

Andrew.

I use the Hacker c40 8L. Excelent motor. I also use a 17 tooth 32 pitch pinion. The 32 pitch pinions I use is actualy for RC cars and is a popular brand, I just can't remember the company however your LHS will be able to help.

The pinions for the VE are from Traxxas and are for the E Max truck series. As stated they are 32 pitch and from Traxxas are available in a large variety of sizes.

The KV on the Hacker motor is 3750 so on a 3s LiPO I found that the 17t pinion was just about perfect. I wouldn't use a motor with a KV less than 3500 unless I was flying with a 4S pack and I doubt the VE's multi stage gearing would handle the 4S power without stripping something somewhere.
