| Pistole,
I have everything completed on my heli except for the radio gear. I'll be getting a JR 8103 PCM radio for Christmas and will complete the building and set-up process then.
I plan to continue practicing on my G2 Simulator until early Spring. Then I'll report on my first actual flight.
The Realflight G2 Simulators fly and hover like the real thing, so if you know of anyone who has one, give it a try.
My first impression when I tried to take off and hover on the Simulator was OMG, I'm never going to be able to do this!!! A heli will in no way stay in one spot without constant inputs from the pilot. In the beginning this will seem almost impossible, and it will probably get away from you many, many times. The good thing with the Simulator is that you can get away with this without ever damaging your actual heli After some practice, you will all of a sudden gain the feel for the controls without overcorrecting (which seemed to be my main trouble in the beginning). Then it becomes fun. After about 7 evenings of practice I was able to lift off the ground and go right into an inline (nose facing away from me) hover with only tiny, tiny corrections to keep it in one place.
The next thing to practice will be the left side facing, right side facing, and nose to nose hovers. They will be more challenging as the orientation of the heli verses the controls are different.
