There's a bunch of used Corona's for sale in the classified sections of RCGROUPS.COM and occaisionally they show up here. So, that would be easier than piecing one together. I learned to fly with one and still enjoy flying it.

With the Stock brushed motor, a 7 cell sub C battery works well. I've only used NiMH, so I don't know if the NiCad's are better or not.

I upgraded to a Brushless motor with an 8 cell sub c NiMH battery and really like the extra power, long flight times and zero maintenence motor...

I've tried to fly my brother-in-law's blade CP many times....it's too squirrely for me.

I would second everything the klutz says. I would suggest the Chopper1 tail case, boom support and vertical tail fin. The stock tail case splits very easily. I'm using the Astro20 brushless with 8 cell sub C's.

Have you got any info on the tailsupport for the Corona. I have been looking for a while, but found nothing.

The advantage of buying piece by piece is that you dont buy the stock part you normally upgrade after a while.

When we are talking about 7-8 cells we mean sc cells mostly nimh.
The nicads had there time, and a few years back the nicads had more punch than the nimh, but thows days are over.
nimh outperform nicads in capacity and punch.
you also could try 4/5 SC cells then tou save a bit of weight or you could go to 9cells without the added weight. Then you have to give in pretty much flight time (2200mAh vs 4200mAh) the 4/5 SC seems to devellop slower ( read less comercial )

If we talk about 2-3 cells then we talk about lipo's. they really keep the weight down for the same capacity you save about 150gr and
thats a lot.
