How difficult is the Piccolo to fly? Is it fixed pitch? Can it do 3d? How about fw flight? Are they worth the money? How durable?

Thanks in advance

the piccolo is a great little helicopter in my opinion. it i fixed pitch so aerobatics are not possible, but don't let the put you off. it is fairly tricky to fly because of the fact that unless you are in a school hall you will be flying in confined area and dodging walls and dogs will be difficult at first. as far as durability is concerned you can crash this thing so many times before it damages anything. justline up the paddles and your aff again! i have a raptor and did't have a simulator so i learned nose in on the piccolo because crashing isnt a big deal. it can fly forward with the stock blades but not very well, the tuning blades are much better for that. personally i think it is well worth the money!
hope this helps

Steve at dreamhobbies.com has the collective pitch kit for the picollo. The kit is $109 and comes with everything needed to fly inverted etc. I have seen videos of the picollo doing some mild 3d. These things are practically indestructible. they are designed for the head to pop off in a crash to prevent parts from breaking. I live in a VERY small house and fly in the front room landing and taking off from the coffee table. I also went to the local school and talked to the nightly janitor about coming in and using the gym while they were there and they had no porblems with it at all (as long as they got to watch).......... IMHO they are a fun little learning tool............. Wes

Piccolo

Someone posted a review on rchelicopters.org. there is a link to a very nice site dealing with the Piccolo. I trimmed the trailing edge of the main blades (brings the head speed up abit) and made a brace that goes across the top of the head. This got rid of a lot of the pitch up in FF. and you could hover it in ground effect much easier.
They are a fun heli, if you realize it's limitations.

I also have one, which I am in the middle of installing the collective pitch upgrade.

Before I got this upgrade I was having one or two minor setup issues which resulted in a number of crashes. But on each occaision I just picked it up "dusted it off" and flew again, no problems !!!

A superb little trainer, as they are just so indestructable !!

Regards,

Peter.

CP Piccolo

I love my Piccolo, and fly it in my garage alot in the winter to keep my thumbs trained. The fixed pitch version is very crashworthy, like people said, and the head just pops off in a crash. Be aware though, if you're converting to the collective pitch version, that the head doesn't pop off, and these are a little more fragile! Best regards

Sorry - I'm wrong about the head not popping off - it will, however the linkages are fragile, and this one is more likely to be damaged in a crash.
