I just got back from the machine shop and he got the main-shaft runout from .012 to .00025. I am going to finish setting it up tomorrow but I am looking forward to flying tomorrow.

I really liked the build and except for a few expected problems that Todd covered with me on the phone, everything when together great! The customer service is top notch, Todd was more than helpful and willing to go over all my set-up questions. Actually set up the gyro over the phone. Customer Service like that will keep me buying more products from them!

Take it easy.

you can see that the servo spacers are installed--different servos from yours maybe ray

looks good spooky.

why did you choose to put the gyro sensor mount in front rather than in the rear on the plate provided?

After my incident i will be mounting my new gyro on the rear mount, less chance of destruction back there!!

I put the gyro up front because I did not like the wire routing from the back, to many moving parts to go by. Just my preferrence, I have always mounted my gyros up front.

I did have to make some spacers for the pivot suppports though on the aileron and pitch servos. When I tried to bolt the support down it was bending and rubbing on the servo horn mount. I used 2.5 nut drilled out to 3mm. Good spacing.

When I talked to Todd about the torque tube problem, inspot1967 was correct, the TT collar should be flipped around. The instruction manual is incorrect and will be fixed. I built mine per the instructions but I don't think I will get them apart to swap the collars around, that fit was tight. When I assembled my setup I did have to heat the alluminum tube. I did this in the hope that I would not stress out the alluminum during the install and cause a fatique, plus it helped to get the coupler on! Only time will tell and I will check it periodically.

I suppose thats a perspective on which one of jason or todd designed that bit. Maybe jason designed the back and todd the front?

What does the CURRENT manual say is it the same manual that i have??

Sorry i've gone back to sarcastic mood but its the only thing keeping me going at the mo, in case you hadn't realised i've got a bit of spare time on my hands

Droid,

I tried to be clear but it didn't work. Someone mentioned there was an updated manual in the works so I simply meant the manual that came with the kits, is in circulation on the net, the one that you have.

The smaller outer dia portion of the collar goes toward the coupler making the set screws sit further away from the coupler.

Understandable, hope you get back in the air soon. PS, 1950 HS with 105mm V-blades.
