Coss 55 there is a guy on this site CARPS who has this combo, he said he would e- mail some pics to me the other day,as I have ordered a GY601, I am still waiting, perhaps he is busy, anyway you may want to e-mail him yourself!
P.S. There is a Yahoo groups site just for the 3DNT, there may be some pics on there. Not too sure on address but it is something like:
www.henseleit helicopters@yahoogroups.com.
If I see any photo,s I will let you know as I woul also like to see the different options.

Mine is mounted across both tail boom clamp/blocks. Use double sided tape and besure to use the small EMI metal shield that comes with the newer 601's.

You will find some pictures of my radio installation here

You may need to join the group to see the piccies. If you do join the group, check out the 'database' and add your 3DNT details. It's be nice to see what equipment people are running.

If I get time I will load them to my website and post the pictures directly here

The GV-1 and GY601 control modules are both mounted on the radio tray on top of a layer of neoprene. Then there is another layer of neoprene and the RX is on top of that. The whole lot is secured by elastic bands, and then for extra safety, a velcro strap

Apologies to Peter G for taking so long

Here you go, some pictures

The GY601 sensor is mounted on the two tail boom clamps, as recommended in the manual.

If anyone wants more detailed photos, let me know and I will pull the installation apart so you can see the control modules.

Leamington Hobby Centre are the official importer
Leamington Hobby Centre,
Leamington Spa,
Warwickshire
01926 429211

I believe the prices are around £14 for 15% and £21 for 30%

Chris Hinds (a RunRyder member) was involved in bringing it over here in the first place. He is my 'area' distributor and may be able to give you more details for your area

Rico,

That is incorrect. Wildcat fuel is being shipped from the USofA already mixed and bottled.
Chris Hinds (a RunRyder member) went to a lot of effort to organise the first shipment, which I took 5 cases of.

The official importer is now Leamington Hobby Centre as previously posted. I believe the first shipment was around 300 gallons (or maybe cases ?), and there is supposed to be another shipment of 400 in January.

Hi Rico,

Yes you are correct there was an arrangement under which Model Technics blend Wildcat DF fuel for the UK and Europe, and as far as I am aware under the new arrangements this will still continue to be the case. However Wildcat Helimix and other Wildcat blends are being imported to the UK directly by Sean Brown at the Leamington Hobby Centre.

The first shipment to the UK was 80cases of fuel of varying blends including car fuels and other specialty fuels such as Promix boat fuels (OK yeah I know its ok for other uses... but would ya really put 45% nitro in a YS 91??? )

Another shipment is coming over in January and this will be an order of 480cases of fuel. Looking at the requirements of the first big order for Wildcat (I managed to put together an order for 30 cases to come out of the first shipment) I have suggested that when Sean brings over the next shipment, which will be predominantly heli fuel it is split to be approx 4/10 each of 30% and 15% Helimix and 1/10 each of 10% and 20% Helimix. I think the plan is for about 350-400 cases of the next shipment to be Helimix.

Andy,

When you have more runtime on the Wildcat could you give me any feedback you have so I can pass it on to Sean and Jerry,

Cheers

Chris

I visited Russ Deakin yesterday, and he has now tuned my Webra 91AAR on the WildCat 15%. It now runs great - is smooth, powerful, and very cool.
Russ then gave it some "abuse" way beyond what I am capable of. I just wish I had a video camera I did have a normal camera

Shame it was such an overcast and wet day.

BTW - back to the subject - his opinion of the 601 versus the 560 was that the 601 stops a little better, but the 560 is more consistent at pirouettes. They will fix the 'stop' issue on the 560.

Hi Andy,

Nice photo Almost makes me want a 3D NT... almost but the bank manager says not! Good to know the fuel works as they said it would!

I am surprised that the GY601 is less consistent in Piros than the SL560, I thought piros was one of the areas the 601 really shines. Maybe CSM have a killer gyro on their hands, time will tell. However to be honest I've had enough problems with my two CSMs that I will buy Futaba next time in any case.

Regards

Pirouette consistency

Chris, The 601 sensor has its output limit at 575 deg/s so if at any point the piro goes over 1.6 revs/s its no longer controlled by the gyro. Its just not going to be possible for a 601 to compete in fast piro consistency with the 560 if its sensor goes out to 1000deg/s.

As for buying Futaba over CSM we all have our own experiences. Personally I found CSM service to be quick and ridiculously cheap. Post-crash I had a problem which I put down to a fault in the 540. They checked it FOC, then they changed the sensor and finally swapped the whole gyro before I found the problem was the tail hub bearings. Total cost to me £15 for the sensor + 3 lots of postage and I could have saved myself most of that if I had listened to what they told me in the first place. Most important in all this they kept helping me and trying to make me happy even though I was being a total prat.

Perhaps someone with first hand experience of breaking a 601 sensor could tell us how much Ripmax took off them to sort it out and how long it took. I hear rumours of £200 and a couple of months.

BTW with the 601 installation pictured above. Does it conform to Futaba's requirement that you keep the 601 sensor 5cm away from the GV-1 amplifier box? - it looks too close to me.

Eh ? The sensor 5cm away from the GV-1 ?

I am totally ignorant of that, but the GV-1 unit is about 10cm away. The GY601control module is in between the two !

Is this in the manual for the gyro ? Doh! Just found it - Page 5, For Safety. I'm going to have to go and check my Voyager now... Just makes the grade. That was lucky !

In future I guess it is wise to read the manuals cover to cover, and recheck if you install something new (like the GV-1 !)

Thanks for that, GT6. I'd never have known...
